Hi guys,

Driving style: non aggressive, but I like some responsiveness.

On my 93 I've had three sets of Yokos DBs (the newer DB2 is much better than the old DB BTW). I went out to 225 60s and I like the rear "wider stance" look the 60s offer over the 65s. The ride is soft but very smooth and quiet.

I just got a 94 with Dunlap Sport A2 215 65s and they are great! Far better road feel than the Yokos but still a MS tire. Unfortunately, they are discontinued and the replacement A2 plus have bad juju reports on tirerack. I thought of keeping one set of my Yoko 60s for the rear and a set of the least worn old Dunlaps 65s for the front.

1) IS THIS OK TO MIX AND MATCH? Then I can have the better road feel of the slimmer Dunlaps in the front and the nice wide look of the Yoyks in the rear.

What all season tires and sizes are you guys using?

Thanks,

Peter of devon

Hi, Peter.

Please also do a search for my spreadsheet info that details a bunch of possible tires for Q45's.

If you want the original Excel, drop me an e-mail and I will send it along.

You can definitely run different size tires... no worries.....

BTW its definitely time you broke out of the 15in tire shell. you can get any good tires for 15s.....

Try this guy http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...WA:IT

I decided not to go after the 17's, and the auction has ended, but they didn't sell.

Thing is...I just scored some minty BBS 15s with Infinity caps--so 15s are it. Love that BBS look!

The 15" BBS's will serve you well, just be prepared for the day (not too far away) when there aren't any/many 15" tires that meet the Q's load rating .

1996 Q stock

Tires- been thru a few. Re: 15" love the turbine wheels. Best handling so far, but worst wear (soft and sticky) 3 sets!!!Michelin X-pilot V95 216/65 only 20K miles

Worst handling, noisy, but best miles - Pirelli P4000 V rated 45,000 miles!

New Dunlop SP5000 V-rated 215/65; handles very well, and quiet.

All 1510lbs rated for the Q. Tread width about 8"

good luck

AVS dB2 is probably the best tire you can get for a G50 in 15, unless you downgrade in speed rating to the XGTH replacement (Exalto?). Things are not much better in 16, and 17 may be history in a few years for top notch strong performance tires for a heavy car like the Q45.

Dunlops have a pretty horrrible reputation, especially on the G50. The only time they were OEM, they were recalled.

Yeah the AVS were cool but next to imposible to find; rumors of them beingdiscontinued is rampant at dealers. In my search, the new Dunlops won out over the Michelins,and match the stopping ability of the Q as well;

Lots of other rice rockets here in San Doego are on Khumo tires; but have low profiles 30/40. Of course the other extreme is the larger wheels, but I have had chassis aligners tell me the larger wheels (and smaller profiles) don't matchwith the three-link(front) suspension of the G50.

check out the ratings for high performance all season tires on Tirerack site- Michelin Pilot Exalto is at the very top of the ratings chart, way above the discontinued xgt h4,both in all performance ratings AND treadwear,....and V rated in 225/60/15 size! got these last month after 3 sets of the xgt`s in both h and v rated versions- so far, very happy with the Exaltos.

There you go!

Now if the PE2 or Exalto A/S were only made in 235/60-15, 255/50-16, or 255/45-17.

You all fricken' hate Pirelli's don't you? I'm telling you that they are good tires and have always been great tires for me and I've always been able to get them for alot less then Michelin smishelin Pilots. .....

.... Well at least here in Carolina where it's hot, hot humid in the summer and cold but no snow in the winter. Add a ton of rain and Pirelli's have never let me down once. Can you tell I'm bias???? Ha. At least check them out and their reviews.

Tread wear has always been great and much better than anything else I have had. They do great in the rain and I have never Hydroplained. If you don't catch them on sale wait until they do go on sale.

I think Greg put P-Zero's on Quella, Red. Don't Hate. I have had Michelins, NITTO. Kumho, Sumitomo, Continental, Yokohama, Bridgestone, and Fuzion tires on my Q's.

The Sumitomo's were the best so far for wear, noise, and performance for me.

None of my 17" or 18" tires wear out the tread. They usually wear out the inside, due to the negative camber factory settings. There is very little camber adjustment on the Q's. I had the toe adjusted on Lola, to help compensate the camber for better tire wear. We will see if it helps.

On one car has been only Michelin Pilot XGT h (225x65) and they last my wife +/-20K miles in mostly town driving. NTB gave us a 50K mile wear out warranty and this is the 2nd replacement set so far. Half way through life we have NTB remount other side out, otherwise inside edge wears out first (negative camber is right on specs.) They handle great, but ride harsh ats low speeds (<30MPH), but like velvet at highway speeds. Don't especially like wet traction though. Other car has Kuhmo Ecsta's and I have been extremely pleased. Mostly high speed freeway (30+K miles so far, another 6-10K left, have not remounted and inner edge going first)--EXCELLENT traction wet or dry, VERY smooth, hold balance perfectly, but not as crisp in handling as the Pilot XGT's. But for less than 50% of the Michelins cost--they are FANTASTIC
