It's about time that I need to replace the OEM tires on my V SL.

I know the stock size is 185 65 R15. I'm wanting to go with a slightly wider tire so I'm looking at 190 60 R15.

Between those two sizes...the circumference should be very close to the same correct?

I'm pretty handy with working on a car but tire sizes have always baffeled me.

Plug the numbers in, will tell you how much it will be off.

I assumed you meant 195/60/15, that will be 1 mph less on the speedo (when you are going 75 the speedo will read 74).

Tire rack actually states revolutions per mile in the tire specs. You could use that to determine the difference.

Thanks for the info.

I'm still debating if I want to go wider or just order the OEM tires again since they have been good tires so far for me. I'm currently at 52,000 miles and can probably still get another 8 - 10k out of them.

Depending on what you are doing with the tire it may not be needed to go wider. 195 will usually be more expensive vs the 185, could use that difference to get a better tire in the 185 size. I'd say the quality of the tire will make a bigger difference in performance vs the one step wider.

Well..it was also mainly for looks. The OEM tires are so skinny. But I know going up one size won't make a huge difference.
My main concern is fuel economy. I mainly do highway driving cruising at 80MPH. I have a 100 mile commute every day.

195/60/15 is a very common replacement for 185/65/15. There is very little height difference in the two sizes and the 195/60 has a slightly higher load rating which means a stronger built tire. They are both about the same price. The 195/60 does look slightly less like a donut. And you are right. There won't really be a noticeable difference in the size change as far as handling, ride, or fuel economy.

Well..this past Friday I had my 195/60 R15 Goodyear Eagle GT tires installed. They look awesome compared to the standard Contis. If anyone is looking to give their V a better look with wider tires check these out. They are $67 a piece from TireRack.com. And my shipping was $45. Still a lot cheaper than getting them straight from the tire shop. They ride real nice as well.

Definitely go for 195 60 15s.
Replaced 185 65 14s on old Sentra daily driver with 195 60 14s and loved 'em!
Were Motomaster LXRs [Canadian Tire touring tires].
Noticably less slop in every day cornering, and quiet tires for many miles.
I drive 40000km per year, and look forward to many trouble free low profile km in the V.
