See, that's just semantics. The tire did not fit properly, which means the tire was 'squeezed' onto the wheel, which means tire will not perform as advertised, will wear out prematurely, and will not give proper driver feedback of road conditions.(as the beads are squeezed too tight, and the carcass is having to 'bunch up' and flex the casing in a balloon shape. do you like riding on balloons?)
It would be appropriate to say that you can put(squeeze) that tire on that wheel, but it would be wrong to suggest that it 'fits', because that will lead people to think that it's an acceptable fitment, which it is not.
Seriously, think about your comments.... "it probably decreased the handling of the car"
The only function of the tire is to give grip! why would you knowingly lower a car's level of grip?!! Why would you sacrifice handling? and what did you gain as a trade off? fatter looking tires? ...looks instead of functionality...??
That just goes against everything anybody in the industry is teaching...
Every single dollar you spend to raise horsepower, every dime spent on coilvers that are overkill for street cars, every cent you put into a nitrous kit(for ex.)..... and to think you would knowingly decrease the capability of the only thing that comes in contact with the road, the only thing that transfers power to the ground...
