After having a bent rim and blown tire I ordered a new wheel/tire from tirerack. I wanted a wider tirer so I went from a 215 to a 225. Better load rating and better wear..yada yada.Anyway, at first glance it seems the new wheel/tire combo is a bit taller than the others. I kept the same 45 aspect ratio is where I went wrong. Basically going from 215/45-17 to 225/45-17. Is this going to cause a problem? The new wheel/tire combo has not been mounted. If need be will tirerack help me out we exchanging the tire? It's already mounted.

well..yeah, its gonna be bigger. its how sizing works bro :)

225=width from wwidest point of sidewall to widest point45= % of width that the sidewall height is: IE: 215x.45= 96.54mm sidewall, 225x.45= 101.25mm high sidewall

so yes, you did get both a wider and taller tire. if you put one of the new sizes on the car it will cuase a porlbme, like a styrofoam cup rolling around, one end is hat a larger O.D. than the other, more than likely causing a pull problem(and maybe some abs problems...)

you could probably run 225-45-17 all around a be fine....but if the other tires are in good shape, I would just get one with the correct size and such.-chet
