Does anyone know or know of anyone who has tried to put 235/45 17's on the front and rear of an s13. Maybe on a 17x7 with 40mm offset wheel. The reason for asking is because i have a good set of 235/45 17 tires that are going to waste(pulled them off my mustclang before i sold it.). thanks

They will be very tall. Stock 195/60/15 have total diameter of 615mm, while your 235/45/17 have a diameter of 643mm. I believe the aspect you need for 235s on a 17" wheel is 40 series, that would give you a total diameter of 619.8, not enough of a difference to matter. With 235/45/17 you will likely rub in the front and your speedo will definately be off.

As long as it clears the strut, I doubt it will rub. The approximate difference is only about 1 inch betwen stock and the 235/45-17's, so that's only half an inch in each direction. As most of you have noticed, there is an abundance of room in the front wheelwell of a 240 as long as it isn't slammed.

You would be going from a total diameter or 615mm up to a whopping 702mm, which is a difference of almost 3 1/2 inches. You would want some 225/35/18 (614mm diameter) to maintain your proper tire size.

Thanks for the info. I might have to run a smaller tire on the front.

Would you do me the favor of showin me the math for how to find total diam? I would like to play with some different sizes, but It would be easier to do myself.

I've never bought rimbs before .. what is with the offset anyway? 4x100 is the bolt pattern (s13)?

Thanks

that is a caculator, there are a few in the net.

The corrrect BOLT PATTERN is 4x114.3 (4X100 are hondas VW and more) i don't know about the offset but i think is 40 mm

Remember that in a 225/45/17 the numbers are

225 : Width of the tire.45: 45 % of the Width of the tire. (of course a 275/45 is going to be taller then the 225)17 Rim Size in inches.

What does offset mean and what suspension products that you have effect what rims will work. All of this really confuses me I...sadly...read a super street article about selecting rims for their 240sx and was like wtf!

For offset, use the search option, or go to tires.com and go to helpdesk, and almost everything you wanted to know about tires and wheels is there, also look at the tire rack.
