I have a 2006 6mt sedan. I know the stock tire size is 235/45/18. Right now I have 245/40/19 on the rims. I have the sedan on 19's that come off the coupe. I have a friend that bought my 18's my car came with and he is wondering if her could put 275/40/18 on that stock rim. WIll the rim hold the tire? and will it fit on a 2005 auto sedan? I don't know what the width of the rim is... 8.0 8.5 I have no idea.

I think if i do the math right you take 275 and multiply that times .4 for the 40 on the tire size and you get 110. 235 multiplied to .45 for 45 is 105.75 but i think that reading is in MM and 110 mm in hight vs. 106mm isn't going to make a difference in the tire hight. Just be the difference in 80mm of with because i think 275mm is to the center of the tire not the total width accross but i could be wrong?

DON'T HURT ME ON THIS ONE GUYS!!!

Find a tire you like, say Kumho Ecsta SPT's and check the manufactuers website. They will have a rim range. If you exceed the rim range the tire performance will be unprodictable and you may have a hard time keeping the tire on the rim.

A 275/35/18 would work in theory but I'd want to see it mounted and balanced. Go to a tire store and buy a used tire. You could buy a used tire for $15 and have it mounted for $6. Look at it and make sure its going to be what you want.

IMO 275 is too much tire. If you over tire a car it will be slower. You want a tire that is right on the edge of being able to break traction. A 255 would be perfect. 245 should be a good size.

The 2007 18" rims are 18x8.5 inches

No problem MAN I have a passion for tires and I go through a set every year LOL

If it were my ride I'd do the Kumho Ecsta SPT 245/40/18's. Any more tire then that unless your pushing 400 hp and your going to over tire the car and it will feel slow.

I just put the SPT's on my G35 and I LOVE THEM. They handle so much better then the stock goodyear RS-A and they have great traction.

You can look at the side wall of any tire and see how it is rated. The SPT's have an AA traction rating that is as sticky as street tires get.

Couple pics of my sedan on 235/45/17' SPT's
