I was planning on running wider than OEM tires on stock 240 SE wheels. I was wondering about a 225/50/16. Any knowledge or comments would be appreciated. Thanks

I take it these are s14 SE wheels.. and yes, I've seen people running 225/50/16 on them... I don't know about the strut/shock clearance though.

Those are a little wide I have run 215/60-15 on my S13 before.

yeah those tires are a little wide for the 6in wheel. But many people have done it on the stock 5 spoke SE wheels. Its all personal preferance

I'm currently running 225/50/15 on 0 offset enkei wheels on my s13 coupe and it clears fine. 16" should be no problem.

your stock tires are 205/55/16, I'd just drop the sidewall and make it 205/50/16.smith and kun are right when they say that its the rubber that makes the traction rather than the inferred section width.

if you're going to widen up, i would go with the 215/50/16. you've still decreased your perceptual sidewall height .21 incheswith some sticky rubber, it will be more effective than a 225/50(which maintains the same approx sidewall as your stocks)...that is, unless you like swaying in the breeze.

hey tokyo, 0 offset is pretty far off from 40mm stock, the higher the offsetthe lower the clearance.
