tire size problem

Hi all this is my first post and i hope someone can help me out. i have a 03 maxima se with 18x7.5 inch wheels. the tire i have on it now are 225/45, a buddy of mine has 235/40 tires, will the 235/40 fit on the rims?

Here's a link to a tire size calculator below. Install the Java plug in if you need it. Basically the tire has a smaller outer diameter. I think may give up some gas mileage.
