Coming up on my decision of wheels, I've chosen the Sportmax Staggered Rims of 18x9.5 and 18x8.5...

Now, having to price tires along with that, I know that I have to get something a bit small in order for the wheels to fit...

A friend of mine suggested 265/35. I was wondering if I could go any bigger (width isn't too much of a concern of me) with the sidewall, possibly up to 45, mainly due to the difficulty of locating tires of a certain size.

I've searched "Sportmax Staggered Rims" and didn't come up with any topics, so if this has been brought up before, sorry.

265-45-18 is a MASSIVE tire... I cant imagine youd want that much meat on a 240, not only would it be too big but itd probably look really stupid.

What offsets are you running...? Also, are you fan of having tires slightly stretched? Im not sure what size 240 guys like running on those sizes, but id think you could run something along the lines of 245-35-18 for the front. I wonder if you could run something like a 275-35-18, those are pretty common as far as sizes go...

The most common sizes in your ballpark are 245-40-18 and 275-40-18, but I wonder if thatd be too much sidewall for a 240.

I wouldn't mind "stretching" the tires, providing no damage was done to them.

So I'm looking at 245-40-18...I'm thinking that might work. 275 sounds a bit wide, but I'll look into it.

The offset on the set should be +30, +35.

Also, with the sizes (18x8.5, 18x9.5) will I require spacers or anything of that sort due to the size? If so, I thought about going down to 17s.

My main concern is rubbing through bumps, speed bumps, or accidental curbs, and just rubbing in general.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

18's are NOT a wise choice on an S13, regardless of tire size.

Would 17s clear without too much worry?

I've found a set of 17x7's, 40mm offset. Would this fitment be something a bit wiser?

Because regardless of your ricer math, "stretch" is not ideal for handling, load rating or traction.

...without stretch, his OD is going to be off.

C'mon, Yoko - you're a smart kid, you know this stuff.

"Looks cool" and "functions ideally" are two vastly different rationales for shopping for tires.

To the O.P. - 17x7 +4 is a great size.... for a Honda Civic.

Keep shopping - Take your time, find the RIGHT wheels. Also, let us know what you're planning to DO with the car - that'll help make a smart choice.

That's really funny that you mentioned that, I have a friend that used to drive a Civic with 17's on it. I don't know the exact measurements, but I know they were 17's.

For right now, while I still have my rough KA, I plan to only be daily driving the car. After my planned SR drop, I plan to use the car for somewhat harder street use. The wheels I buy now will still be on the car after I drop the SR. Probably not the same tires (assuming I don't take to hard to them while I daily driving it), but the rims I buy now will be the rims I'll have for a while.

soooooooooooooooooyes, it diminishes handling to a point, but if hes not on a track he will never knowAND depending on the tire sizes you choose, the rolling diameter of an 18 with a stretched tire is the SAME as a 17 with the correct tireso that argument is not valid....

OK - You suggest an 18" tire size for a 9.5" wheel that remains close to OEM OD, and isn't a stupid stretch.

For reference, 24.7" OD is S13 convertible size... 24.3" is OEM S13 coupe / hatch size.

215/40/18 is 24.8", but that's a retarded stretch.

How about we help the n00b find something that WORKS, instead of something that makes him look like a wannabe. Remember, he has a stock, tired KA.

Damn straight.

So 17's and 18's will make me look wannabe? I've seen some nice, clean s13s with the same rims I am interested in on 18s.

What rim size and tire fitment would you suggest? Something along the lines of 16s, with 215/60?

dudea 215 on a 9 is an easy streatchit was on my stagea215/40/18

225/40/18

9s and 10si did the same on my 180, but i dont have any shots like that to show

regardless, its not unsafe, not huge, if you got 17s and non stretched tires, it would be the same rolling diameter

only downfall is a harsher ride (dont be a *****) and lower speeds before you oversteer or understeer.....but the OP prolly will never experience it...i tracked the 180 like that nad nver had a problem....memebr?

Those look good, Ed.

Yoko, I'm just saying that to match the OD, on a 9.5" wheel (not 9"), he's gonna be mad stretched.

Yes, 225/40 on a 10" wheel is too stretched. Period.

Just because nothing bad happened to you, doesn't mean it's safe. Besides, that'll ride like a$$, you know this....

You always say, "Don't be a *****" - I could say the same, why not tuck some 275's under that S13, Nancy?

Hey Yoko - I may have a "baller" S13 fitment question for you here soon, but it's more related to disc and offset (18x9 / 18x10) choice...

I gotta choose specs for a set before I place the order.
