Is it Ok to change the original tire size 245/45/18 to 255/45/18? I just bought Dunlap SP9000 255/45/18 for 2006 M35x. Need help today...Thanks.

Hmmmm ... if you already bought it, then it is a bit late to ask, hunh? Curiosity: why did you not just get the 245/45-18?

In any case, it should fit - that width difference is relatively minor. Your speedo will be off by a slight amount, but not enough to really matter at all!

By the way, that tire comes in two version, one is a SL (Standard Load) made in Japan, and one is an XL (Extra Load) made in Germany. The XL is slightly better, since it has a higher load index of 103, but the SL is pretty good too.

Both are likely to have stiffer sidewalls than your current tire (assuming you have the stock ones), so be prepared for a very slightly stiffer ride. Again, probably not enough to be significant.

Thanks, for your reply...I bought tires from a friend he bought 20" rims. He had 90% on all 4-18'' tires and I couldn't pass the offer, it was only $250 for all 4 tires... I have a friend that works at NTB and he mounted them and balance for only $40. Now I'm in LOVE with the way the car responds and tire is not noisy. The size fit fine, no problem. Thanks

That is a good deal! Which was it, by the way, the XL or SL? The markings on the sidewall should say load index of 103 for the XL and like 97 or 98 (I forget exactly) for the SL.

Good! My prior experience with Dunlops (long time back though) has been that they do require re-balancing every 3k miles or so. So, if they start sounding a bit noisy, or vibrate a bit (particularly when braking), do a rebalance before you do anything else.

Enjoy!
