I want to replace the 225/40/19 & 245/40/19 tires with 225/35/19 & 245/35/19 tires. Have been told this could cause problem with VDC is this correct? Could this cause any other problems? The smaller size tires are about half the price of OEM size. This for a 2005 G35 mt6 coupe.

The outside diameter of the tires is the key. If you maintain that number you shouldn't have any problem with the VDC.

dumb move, not only are you getting smaller diameter tires that will throw off speedometer and odometer, but by decreasing the sidewall height with your proposed tire sizes you will have a harsher ride and increased risk of rim damage due to potholes, bumps, etc quite a false economy -you are focusing on PRICE,not COST-a huge mistake

They could also be weaker tires designed for a smaller car, more subject to damage & blowout (and definite rim damage when they fail). Compare the load ratings.
