For some reason, no current love for the 265/40R17 from Federal - only 275/40 in 595 & 595RS.

595evo should have that size, but the suppliers have been lagging on getting those over to the states. I'll keep everyone updated as soon as those do come out tho.

Go 275 or 255 .

Hey guys, I'm in the market now for a set of 595RS, sized 225 45 17 or 235 40 17, preferably the 235 . I'll be running them on a 17x8 wheel. Could you send a quote to [email protected] please? I need the additional grip of the RS over the standard 595 but cannot go to a treadwear rating of below 140, and I believe the rating on the RS is 180.

Thanks for your help!

Sending you a quote right now, Andy.

Sorry it took so long, we were out racing the entire weekend, haha. I didn't place in autox, but my coworker, Cat, got 2nd place in gymkhana for her class w/ 595RS - first place had r-compounds, haha.

Emailed inquiries also replied!

Quote sent! Plenty of those in stock.

In any case, what size rims are you stretching these on? We've had a pair stretched on 9" wide rims... if your mounter is good enough, he can do it. However, he may never talk w/ you again, haha. The sidewalls are beefy, but not impossible to stretch.

From one of our customers on one of the other forums:
Ricks15 from So Cal wrote:Fed's SS595 are dope ive got them on my car, good *** grip in dry and in rainy conditions
We actually all personally run federals @ work (some ss595, some 595rs, some ss535) for the past year or so. For so cal rain, they do fine. Definitely more grip in rain than Azenis.

But obviously, as w/ any summer tire, your results will vary depending on how heavy the rain is and how you drive. At the very minimal, I'd say they are comparable in the rain to other High Performance Summer tire.

595rs is more sticky than ss595... that's about as straight forward as I can say. 595rs is extremely soft compound. The exact differences and if it's worth it for you to go one way or the other is all very subjective, depending on your goals.

If you are competing on the track, I'd recommend 595rs. Our very own sales manager, Cat, just placed 2nd in D-modified w/ 595rs @ this past gymkhana event on March 31st. So these tires are definitely competitive.

ss595 is very nice for the price, and everyone who has run either federals has had nothing but good things to say about them. It's sticky enough to hold its own on track days/events, but cheap enough and decent enough for most situations to daily drive.

Hope that helps.

For someone who's not very competitive (i.e. you aren't even close to one of the top drivers in your class) & mostly daily driving the car, I would obviously recommended the ss595. Great wear (even for a 220-260 treadwear tire) and still very grippy.

Spare tires, $20? I'm sorry, I don't quite follow where you're going with this... If you don't think Federals are any good, by all means, please don't run them. I've tried giving you customer testimonials, personal experience, etc - it's up to you to decide.

Federal SS595, we compete in autox regionally personally on these tires and prefer them over a lot of different brands we've tried. Cost & grip wise.

Many of our customers also like these for both drift days & track events. They prefer these for drifting over random $5/piece old tires because they last all day long, and usually you can still drive home on them. This is all noted on my previous posts above.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking, but for the price of the ss595, you can't really go wrong. If some D1 drivers are putting federals (I believe the popular combo is re-01r's in front, ss595 in back) for their runs, plenty of amateur drivers (including everyone @ frsport - we stand behind the products we sell) are running ss595 & 595rs in autox, drift, and hpde's - I don't see why anyone wouldn't give these a try.

Keep in mind, when Falken Azenis (215's) first came out, they were DIRT cheap because no one knew about them. Now they are still relatively cheap (615's), but almost double what they used to cost.

Federal is making a really big name for itself now, if you saw them @ the SEMA show recently, you'll see they are upping the marketing - they are also sponsoring a huge amount of drifting events around the US.

As for running $20 spares, that's your call. The #1 most important thing is seat time. #2 is tires. I'd rather run something decent and have fun the whole day rather than saving a few $$$ on tires, but not be able to push my car at all because it behaves weird on crap used tires and lose $$$ on the track day fees...

tread pattern is more aggressive on the 595RSSS595:595RS:

treadwear is significantly less on the 595RSss595: 240-260 depending on size/specs of tire595rs: 180 treadwear

compound is softer - exact differences in compound, you'd have to contact Federal directly (if they are even willing to share that information). Both are silica compound, but by touch alone you can tell the differences between the two.

Everyday driving could vary depending on your tire pressure, alignment, etc. I've run ss595 on my rears for about 5000 miles so far w/ several autox practice & championship events and they still have a lot of tread left (more than half). A few of our customers have run more than 10,000 miles on them already and participate in track events occasionally while still having lots of tread left. For more results, please consult Google & asking around on the forums. There are plenty of people who have run these tires.

The 595rs which my coworker runs wore down significantly after the gymkhana event (wear seems comparable to that of the Falken 615 from initial testing). Definitely not a daily driver tire unless you don't drive that much. This tire will probably last another 2-3 events.

For more information, you can refer to http://www.federaltire.com.

Thanks for the inquiry,QV

I haven't seen too much talk on the ss595 in 19". I have an 04 G35 and I want to know how they compare to the T1R Proxies by Toyo. Can you tell me?

Another question I have is I am at this time only going to replace my rear tires as they are the ones that need to be replaced at this time. Can I mix them with the T1R up front?

I currently have 245/35/19 up front and 275/35/19 in the back. I didn't see any in my size for the back is there a reason for that?

Thanks for all the info provided so far, I hope things fall together as I am really interested in your tires.

If the size isn't listed on our site, we don't sell ss595 in that size . You could always run 275/30R19, which will give you slightly lower sidewall.

I'm pretty sure 275/35R19 is not stock g35 sizing (please correct me if I'm wrong). 275/30R19 should be closer to stock diameter than your current tire size.

As for comparison between 595 & t1r, I can't give you one since I've never tracked or even daily driven t1r's...

You can mix tires just fine for daily driving. Tracking, you'd have to test out yourself depending on your driving tastes.

Since you are in Anaheim, feel free to give us a call or drop by the office - you're not that far - with any questions you have, just let them know you talked w/ QV about tires on the forums and had some additional questions.

Thank you for your help.

I have contacted my performance shop and he said the same thing as you regarding going to 275-30-19.

He is going to place an order for me tomorrow (05-03-07) and he will install them on Monday.

Thanks again.
