Heres my setup and problem

1996 240sx

KYB AGX StrutsEibach SpringsPollyurithane Control arm bushings17x8 wheels225/45/17

ProblemAnytime turning right and wieght is transferd onto the drive side tire it rubs up in the fender. To the point its eaten though the inner fender liner and eating into my wires (big problem). The thing is the passanger side does not do this with a passanger or without it will not rub.

Now I cant figure it out. The struts are almost brand new and the springs when I took them off seemed to still have plenty of spring load.

Could it be bad springs?Bad Strut?Or what?

Perhaps it's that you change direction quicker on right turns as opposed to left turns. Or does this do it on a track.

(Plus 10 for the model post.)

It happens under low or high speeds. I mean it rubs bad and it did it a little before shocks and now it does it a lot. I installed everything correctly. Only thing I can think is bad shock or bad spring rate (lost tension).

What's the wheel offset? The OEM offset is +40mm. With those big wheels, the offset should be +35 or less.

Front offset is +35 rear is +37 they cam off of a Silvia In Japan they were made for the S14 body style.

The problem isnt the tire rubbing the sides of the fender well its the Top of the fender well. The tire is rising up high enough to hit the top of the fender lining and the wiring/hood cable behind it. Hitting it so much to the point it has rubbed through.

Well then in that case, check for front end body sag on each side; one of the springs or struts may be weak.

Relocate your harness so you don't eat through it. Heres a link its for an S13, but the S14 is so similar so its not that much different.

I had already planned to do that ^^^^^^^ but I was wondering if it was just because the car sits low that its rubbing or is because of a faulty part. I guess Ill find out if I just moce the harness. If no more rubbing then its all good.

Give me a good excuse to knock out some dents.

I had this problem, take out the fender liner/move the harness.

Problem solved.
