I have a set of Michelin all season tires that I will be taking off soon to put on winter tires. I would like to know when I put my all seasons on in the spring do I move the front drivers tire to the rear drivers and the front pass to the rear pass or do I criss cross them from front driver to rear pass etc?

It's in the owners manual.

Okay so when would you criss cross tires?

Many of us are driving on directional tires, which means you cannot swap sides without a unmount/remount to put the former outside sidewall on the inside on the other side. If you do not have directional tires then:

Some people here like a particular Yokohama tire that is not directional, but the tread pattern is not symmetrical, so one side always has to be to the outside of the vehicle. Those tires can't be dismounted/remounted on the wheel facing the other way.

I prefer the rearward cross, regardless of FWD/RWD/AWD, for two reasons. It allows every tire to spend an equal amount of time at all four wheel positions, and the tires always maintain the same direction of rotation as they get moved from rear to front. When moving from front to rear, it's not important.

Which tire rotation pattern do you use? And Why?

Any suggestion is very much appreciated.

For a car enthusiast, I honestly never rotate tires.

I did do it myself 1 time.

Front to back, criss-cross rear to front.

I do get free rotations at discount tire now with my new setup.

One reason why I want to do the tire rotation is to properly clean the tires.
