Im sure this was covered all over, i searched read the FAQs if i missed it im sorry.

to the subject. Well its tax time, i got my taxes done today and as it turns out its time for a new exhaust and rims/tread for the good ol 240.

I have a 1998 nissan 240sx umm only suspension mod i have is KYB shocks. Im looking into some lightweight 18x8's but im wondering if maybe this is going to be too big. I know 18's can be difficult on some cars and im wondering how this will fair with the 240. I prefer a good wide tire for more tire to ground ration i guess lol maybe im just stupid and thats a bad idea though. Honestly im up for suggestions on what is a really good fitment with good traction. Im not so sure about tread yet, ill find something but thats not exactly the issue unless id have to get some real low-profiles. This could prove hazerdous as i live in michigan and we have horrible roads as some of you are aware im sure. SO with this in mind would 18x8's with average tread be fine or would i have to go low-profile...

Again im sorry if i missed something somewhere but any help would be appreciated! thank you all for any help!

you need a low pro tire, for sure. you will probably need a 35 aspect ratio. So 215/35R18 something like that will get you the closest to stock rolling diameter and still be able to put it on a 8 inch wide rim.

the big question is what offset are the wheels?

Uhhhhhhh NO. 215/35/18 is tiny. It's an inch shorter in height than stock size.

i honestly dont know the offset of the rims as im just asking in general. id assume id obviously want a negative offset so that i could fit wider rims, correct? im fairly new to the whole situation rather get it right the first time lol.

My bad! 225/35 R18, my aspect ratio is good just not my width, i was trying to say he will definatly need a low pro tire. that tire should put you exactly on stock diameter, the 215 35 would be a little less than an inch different (smaller).

The offset is very important when deteremining fitment, especially with wider rims they will rub your suspension components. You will need a serious fender roll (and IMHO flares) to pull off a neg offset. You are probably looking for a +25 or something ( depending on whatv you like your stance to look like. I don't like my wheels to stick out far beyond my fenders, but most will disagree with me.

so i think i found some rims. prolly gonna get some 17x7.5's 5 spoke 5zigen 20mm offset. Would this still fit nice without chances of rubbing on my suspension?
