What up NicoClub! I'm in the process of looking for some new tires for my 2011 M37S. I have the stock 20'' rims and was looking at a couple of brands on Tirebuyer.com. Has anyone on here ever purchased Nexen, Nitto, or General G-Max tires? If so, what was your experience with them? Also any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

never used any of those listed. The general from what I read tends to have a bit flexible side walls which is why I wouldn't put it on this car personally. My last set was Bridgestone Potenza (all season). I was generally happy with them, except for wear. Plan to try something new next time. Going with Continental in a couple of months.

Good luck

Go to tirerack.com for a good selection as well. I've used General in the past and they're just ok. They tend to be less grippy than some other brands (for summer tires). I've used Falken, Dunlop, Continental, Sumitomo, Toyos, and others in the past.

Are you looking for all-season or summer? That will help determine your tire selection. Also budget, performance, comfort, tread life, snow, etc. are all important factors. Really depends on what you're looking for.

Thanks for the recommendations guys! I'm looking for something all season with performance. Also something that has pretty good grip in the rain. I know it's pretty much impossible to find a tire that will prevent you from fishtailing when it rains, but i've got to find something that does better than what i have now. Driving in the rain is brutal...or maybe I just have a lead foot :D

The opinions expressed above are based on experience with one tire without comparison to other tires. If you look at Consumers Report unbiased rating of tires based on actual testing field you would find that the top all season performance tires are:

Conti Pure contact
Pirelli Cinturato P
Michelin Premier A/S

All did well in wet conditions although the Pirelli did not brake as well in wet conditions.

True - however, opinions expressed are based on experience with tires on the car in question. CR sure are unbiased but the car(s) used to test were not an M/Q most likely. Same tire may behave/ride/sound/last differently on a different model car.

I would second the tirerack reviews advice. You can just select so see all reviews for your particular model of the car which I find very helpful. Tire rack also does head-to-head reviews/testing of tires with very detailed unbiased commentary.

Bottom Line - Do as much research as you can including all possible sources.

I do not use or trust Consumer reports. They are definitely NOT bad people, just inaccurate. For instance, some of the tires they call 'performance' are not performance tires - they are 'touring' tires. The best way to search for tires for any car is Tire Rack. Tire Rack allows you to search for your specific vehicle - it lists the factory tires and gives you options based on what type of tire you want - even has a 'decision guide' that tweeks your search based on road conditions, weather, etc where you live.
I always use ultra high performance all-season tires for great grip and all around improved performance over touring or regular tires. After choosing the tire that best suits you, there are test videos comparing that tire with other brands in the same class. They also list customer reviews from people driving your car or a similar car (Lexuis LS, Mercedes Eclass, etc. That way you get plenty or ACCURATE info on the exact tire you chose.
Personally, the Michelin Super Sports are the best but pricey. I always used them but last year I changed to Ventus S1noble2 tires and could not be happier. They come closer than any other brand to the Michelins in performance and grip, but are significantly less expensive. Tread wear is as minimal (so far). The only comparison I can't do yet is the performance of Ventus Vs Michelins at low tread because my Ventus are still near-new tread. Michelins always perform as well as new even with low tread. Too early to tell if the Ventus can do that. Lots of members here like the Continental DWS but according to tire rack, they have less grip and less connectivity to steering input than other brands. Pirelli make an all-season that is rated very well for our cars.
My current tire: Ventus S1noble2: 255/40/19 on 19 X 8.5 +40 wheels. A bit wider than OEM with great grip in rain, gravel, deep water and even 3-4 inches of snow. I think there are pics in my sig below.
