Hi All -

I'm new to this group and reaching out for some help, so thank you in advance. Just bought a 2013 m37xS and need to get new tires. I'm aware of the tramlining issue and want to make the best choice. I've narrowed my selection down to the Michelin primacy mxv4 and the continental extreme contact dws06. I would very much appreciate hearing feedback from the group.

Thank you!

Welcome to the forum.

I've used both of those tires (not exact models as I had the MXM4's and DWS - not sure what the DWS06 are). I'd recommend both. The MXM4's wasn't as sporty as the DWS. I might go back to the either of those (currently on Pirelli Cinturato's).

I'm on MXV4's right now and I wouldn't recommened them. Imo, they are a tire that gets you from point A to point B, with high mileage warranty and longevity. They are way too slippery in snow, not confidence inducing in rain, and not very grippy in dry.

I have read good things about Contis DWS and would be my choice. I'm actually not really sure what's out on the market for All seasons right now...

Are you looking for an All-season tire specifically? Can you afford dedicated summer/winter tires and wheels. Imo, that's the only way to go.

I currently have the Conti's DWS on my M37x in a 19" ( I have aftermarket Niche Sport Targa wheels) and I love the tires. They are very quiet and smooth with good grip.

The type of driving you do and the weather conditions where you live should be your guide. I always go with "ultra high performance A/S". So far the only two tires I recommend in that class are the Michelin ZPilot Super sports +(or current equivalent) and the Ventus S1noble2 which I currently use. They see hot weather with huge puddles all year - no snow in South Florida, although on treks to the north, the Ventus did fine in 3 inches of snow and slush when driving according to the conditions. They are not loud tires but provide unbelievable stability in hard braking on wet roads and plenty of grip for spirited driving at high speeds. And they cost less than Michelins. After 20k miles, still gobs of tread left but a slight increase in road noise.
The tires you mentioned are, I believe, in the 'touring' class - less performance but definitely great tires. pics in my sig.

A great place to see video tests and compare tires is Tire Rack.

I've got the Continental DWSs. Awesome tires. No issues at all. They do great in the rain. And we've gotten a lot lately. The wife drives it everyday and she'd definitely let me know if they were too noisy. I could care less about noise as long as I'm not let down in a corner. I'm impressed w them so far. And less expensive at $220. Tire rack has Pole Position S-04s on special right now for the same price.
