I'm a total ignorant newb when it comes to tires. Does anyone know if a 235/45-17 tire will fit on a 17x7 rim? I looked at a couple sites and it seems like it might, but does anyone on here have this combo?

I'm currently using 225/45's. I only ask because a friend can sell me the 235's for cheap and I'm gonna need tires soon.

No. I think I'm one of the few peeps on here that doesn't like stretch. Actually the 225/45's that I've got on there now hang over the lip a little bit. How much wider will the 235's be? Thanks

10mm so almost half an inch(.39). You should go to tirerack and look up the tires to get the exact width of tire and footprint of the tire. You'll be fine with 235's tho, won't hardly notice a difference.

Why the hell is it that rims and tires are measured in different units? I mean, since one mounts on the other, wouldn't it just make sense?

Noooooo, we can't have things making sense now, can we? The whole world might come into order or something, and we don't want that...

HAHA! What are you telling me? Aspect ratios, section heights, and tread widths don't make perfect sense to you? .... I swear the more I read about it, the more confusing it gets.

If you go to Tirerack and look up your particular tire, it will give a range of recommended tire widths. Example: A 235/45 17 RE750 only recommends a range of 7.5"-9" wide wheel.

So I guess the 235's are too wide then? Why did the other dude tell me they'll fit? I hate cars!I just wanted to ask again... Does anyone on NICO have 235/45's on 17x7 wheels? Thanks again

No they will fit, but they might bulge out slightly thats all ... trust me, I have 275's on an 8.5 on one of my other cars and tirerack is tellin me I need at least a 9" wide, its fine. 235's on a 7" is fine. Measurements for tirerack are for a stretched look.

not too possitive, but I think with 235's, you might wanna get a smaller sidewall... then again, I'm no tire tech.

have a mod move this to the tires/ suspension forum

I don't think a 235 wide tire is supposed to fit on a 7 inch wheel.According to fitment guides you will need an 8 inch wide wheel for a 235 tire (look at this site http://www.1010tires.com).

You will have a problem with even trying to get this mounted unlessyou can do it yourself.

I am not a tire tech but, I would strongly recommend that you not tryto mount a tire that is wider than the suggested rim width for safety reasons.

Good luck
