It won't damage the traction control, but it could cause the traction control to engage all the time. The G35 requires that the diameter ratio between the front and reat tires are very close to the OE tire sizes. Otherwise the car will think it's losing traction all the time.

You can run different size tires, just not different height tires. Besides, why would you want to run different height tires?

So a wider rear tire will not cause the computer to freak out? What is the widest tire you can safely put on the stock 19" forged rims?

I have 245 x 35 x 19 in the front and 275 x 35 x 19 in the back. No problem at all. I believe you can go to 285 in the back but I am not sure. I had a problem when I replaced my back tires before I replaced my front tires, I have off set wheels, and because the back were new tires and the front were older it was off enough to cause the traction control to engage. Once I put new tires on the front the problem was fixed. I never heard you had to keep the tires size the same as stock, but I have heard there can not be a difference in size from front to back.

I hope this helps.

285/35 is the widest tire you can put on the stock 19X8.5" wheels.

so once i put 40profile tires on the front my car would stop acting funny? i have been driving it around for a while now and the car seens to have adapted to the tires but i dont know for sure. i got my rear tires free so i didnt spend a penny on them. u would think that it would happen the same if u got rims but i guess the 19" make up for the tire profile that is missing.

Check the specs for the tire you want to buy. Tire Rack posts the tire specs for each tire they sell. Tiree manufacturers usually post them in their website as well. They should list the min/max wheel widths for each tire and size. It's not recommended that you go beyond these min/max. They could affect safety. It may also look funny and even cause uneven tire wear.
