I'm 1 year into a 2 year lease, factory tires are cooked. I have the 07 M35X for another 14 months or 40K miles. Live in New England and drive all over it. Since I need 40K out the tires and even though I'm leasing I'm looking for a tire that supports the amount of driving and the climate, so I understand it might be expensive. Thanks for your help.

I just put the Versados on the wife's Volvo V70 a few months ago. It's a very nice quiet and smooth riding tire. Much nicer ride than the Michelins that were on there and quieter too. No idea how they'll wear though...

You might consider the Michelin Exalto PE2 as an option too. There is a list of tires for these cars in the Basic Specs sticky in this forum.

I should also mention that since you are in a bit of snow country (Boston, MA), you are well-advised to get a set of cheap wheels and good snow tires for winter months. Any powerful RWD car is going to need this, even though you have the anti-slip system in the M! My 15 years of experience living in the Northeast made be a strong believer in getting snow tires in winter for RWD cars.

And, remember, that "all-season" tires are neither good in summer nor in snow. Better to get two sets of tires. I recommend cheap steel wheels too, since it is a pain to mount/remount tires multiple times a year at a tire place. Easier to just change the wheels out at home - just need a jack, lug nut wrench and a torque wrench (to reset the lug nuts back to the correct torque setting)!

Try the Yokohama YK520s...I love them! Much quieter and all around performance is fantastic.

Actually, this is one recommendation I would not be comfortable with ... this Yokohama model is a "house" brand made for Discount Tire, and they might have taken short-cuts with this particular model like they did with its previous incarnation ... called the YK420. Many other Yokohama tires are just fine, though!

Some of our members have had serious problems with the YK420, including an accident or near-accidents caused by tire failures, on heavier cars like our M. Please do a search on "YK420" and you will see what I mean ... look at threads like this: zerothread?id=32346.

Check out this too: zerothread?id=160233 for an interesting discussion on tires for heavier Infiniti models.

If you want to get tires at Discount Tire for similar or lower price, then get the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx or Continental ContiExtreme Contact in a 245/45-18. They are less expensive than the Yokohama YK520 and better tires, IMHO.

I went with the Bridgestone Pole Position All Season tires. They are a significant upgrade over the OEM's. The ride is quiet and they do quite well in wet conditions. My mileage has also increased to 18.9 mpg.

2006 m35X I drive 20K per year in the midwest so I know snow. I just put on Michelin Primacy MXV4s. 60K tread life warranty, 620 tread wear. Approx $200 each. I notice no difference in handling from the Goodyear RSAs and they seem to be a little quieter.

Just check out tirerack.com and read reviews about tread wear. Lot's of good info on there.
