Ok, this might sound like a newbie question, but I'm gonna ask anyway. What tire pressure should I be running while on the street? I know certain tires have certain pressures they are supposed to run at, but I always read about ppl lowering their tire pressure for better traction/speed. But also, doesn't lowering your tire pressure cause your tires to wear out quicker and heat up over long drives on the freeway?
My car's engine runs really strong, but It seems I'm not going as fast as I should be. Also my ride seems very rough for a stock suspension. I know my 17 inch wheels are causing a rougher ride because they have less tire, but they are a significant drop In speed and ride vs. my 15's. When I had my stock 15's with bald a$$ tires my car seemed to grab better traction and had a lot better ride quality.
So, my real concern is when I bought my tire/wheel combo, maybe they are over-inflated? I will go check my actual tire pressure read out and maybe that can help.
