I'm the opposite. I left my sensors in the stock wheels for the winter, because I find there is less chances in the freezing cold weather to go out and manually check the tire pressures with a tire pressure gauge than there are in the warmer months. If even just a little bit of water or snow gets in the valve then freezes, it could result in a slow leak and much more headaches. I mean I still do check during the winter, it's just less often and that's when the TPMS will actually help me and be more useful.
I also don't notice the light anymore now that I know my summer wheels are on. It's just a matter of getting used to it. Also, I have seen that some guys say to put a small piece of electrical or black tape over the icon so that they wouldn't see it anymore. I think that would drive me more nuts than the light itself, but to each is own.
