Hey all,

Thanks for all the advice on tires earlier this month. I finally got my tires and wheels mounted. I am currently using 245/45R18 and was wondering what is the correct tire pressure to use for my G50?

Thanks,

Chan

Probably 35 psi - 40 psi. Try high and back down a pound each morning until you are happy.

Depends on the tires maximum inflation rating pressure you might have 44 or 51 psi tires................the rule of thumb is 80% of maximum posted on sidewall..................COLD.

80% is where I am at now. 40psi Cold. My sidewall indicates 50psi. Thanks for the quick reply. I did not know 80% of indicated Max was the rulle. Good to know.

Your all set.... I usually start at the 80% rule and then tweek from there to get the ride I want.... wont go +_ a few PSI either way

I prefer being a bit lower, like about 36 psi, for a bit more ride comfort. Without really sacrificing any handling. I would certainly avoid going below that though.

But, I also check regularly to make sure that it does not drop much. Every 2 weeks or so, the pressure will drop down about 1 or 2 psi and I bring it back up to 36.

And, important to keep in mind, I check my pressure stone cold (inside the garage in the morning) so it does not have any heating effects (including from the sun). Dennis (Q45tech) is a strong proponent of this as well.

A good test is to measure the sidewall stiffness accurately..............the unloaded tire jacked up distance from aosulute center to the tread........then lower weight on to tire and measure again.

If you know or approximate the weight you can find whether the tire has 1500 pounds per inch or 1700 at the pressure then inflate to max and min and remeasure with 3 points you can draw an accurate graph to describe the individual brand/size tire.

Once you KNOW the sidewall stiffness you can then enter the tire spring stiffness into the spring equation and learn the true roll stiffness of the spring and tire in series...........always smaller weaker than the spring alone.

150 spring + 1500 tire =~~ < 150 roll stiffness
