Questions:On 2005 F50, are the tire pressure monitor sending units in the valve stems? Why does it take a while when first started for the system to indicate tire pressures? Is there any special procedure or care required when removing and reinstalling them on different wheels?

Thanks

I would download your FSM (Factory Service Manual) and refer to pages WT-7 through WT-28 to understand the system. I just read it and it's enough that I can't efficiently summarize it here.

http://www.phatg20.net/modules...ow=10 Do a google search to find a free tool to uncompress a .rar file and you have a free FSM!

My guess is that if you rotate the tires, your information will not be in the correct order on the screen - but the system may be smart enough to know where the signal from each transmitter is coming from based on signal strength.

Our G35 has tire pressure monitors, but only an idiot light on the dash if one or more tire is low... then it's up to you to figure out which one is low.

Thanks Q451990.I had already saved the FSM, but it's a little daunting to find some items, but I finally did.Apparently it is as I thought; the transmitters are in the valve stems.I did not find anything about removal or reinstallation of the transmitters/valve stems, any special procedures or warnings.

I suspect others may be curious as to how the system works. Hopefully, this will help them too.

Thanks again.

Take care.

It was tough to find... I'm not sure why the words "Tire Pressure" followed by something isn't in the index! Apparently they bolt on to the back of the valve stem... I know it's in that area somewhere because I read it. Something about removing the nut around the valve stem and letting the transmitter fall down into the tire. The whole process didn't look particularly DYI friendly.

It was indeed obscure. Thanks for the tip about watching out for the transmitter falling inside the tire. THAT would be a day ruining experience for sure.

Take care.
