Hello all. New here to the site as of today. Just bought a 2005 G35 Coupe. Wonderful car. Had a question though....I replaced the rims with MASS 18x 8.5 front and 18x10 rear. I did not install the tire pressure monitors in these rims. After about 30-45 minutes of driving, the "low pressure" light comes on the dash. Is there any way to disable this???

Not major problem, just annoying.

Thanks.

Welcome aboard!

That system is about as useful as balls on a nun.

I'm not certain if it can be disabled, but I'll check around and see what I can find out. In the meantime, perhaps one of our other G owners may know.

You have two options here. (1) Get use to the annoying light. (2) Take the car to the dealership and have them disable the system, a fee will be charged though. I have read some information that some people never get the light after going to aftermarket/winter wheels and don't use the TPMS. Do you have a full size spare? Check the tire pressure on the spare, it maybe setting off of the system since there are no longer any other sensors.

Huh, I was under the impression that the spare did not have a sensor. At least, thats what the dealer told me. Can anyone confirm?

If you have a FULL size spare, it has to have a sensor. The spare will be identical to the other wheels on your car. You could always go out and look at your spare and see for yourself.

Okey Dokey...No full size spare. So there is no sensor in there. I guess I will have to get used to it. It only comes on after about 40-45 minutes of continuous driving.

To answer g35ivp's question...these sensors are attached to the back side of the tire stem. The monitor tire pressure and send a signal to the dash if the pressure gets below a preset level...my Titan is 28 lbs.

The aftermarket rims will not have any sensors but you can remove the ones in the factory rims and install them in the aftermarket ones so the system works. I should have done that but did not realize my G35 had this feature...

It should be noted that not all wheels are compatible with the sensors. Check with the wheel manufacturers on this. Tire Rack notes if the wheels they sell are compatible.
