Hey guys. If I put in aftermarket wheels.. will I have to transfer teh TPMS over to the new wheels or do I have to get a new set? I'm not even sure if my car has it (2.5s convenience package)..

Yes, you can swap them over from what I know; however, I did have this guy at a tire shop once tell me that the sensors will not work on larger diameter wheels. Don't know if it's true or not because I didn't swap mine over.

Do you have some warning thing pop up or what? Will it be fine without them?

They are fine in larger size wheels. Mine were transfered over from my stock wheels and I have 20's now.

Yes, there is a small yellow dummy light which blinks for 1 minute then goes solid. It bothered me at first, but now I have no prob with it. In fact, I use the 1 minute as a warm-up period for my car.

I left my sensors in my summer wheels and fixed the system so it doesn't cause any problem. A nice black piece of electrical tape right over the warning light and I am fine until I put my summer wheels/tires back on in March.

But it won't really be a problem if the light is on right?

Heres a cool little nugget for everyone....the tire pressure monitoring system is actually required on all new vehicles 2008 model year and then on. I dont like how it doesnt tell you the tire pressure though. OR atelast which one needs pressure

I posted this already, but yes its DOT required..as always... if you need a light on the dash to tell you somethings wrong (let alone a flat!) you have bigger fish to fry...

I just installed 17' konigs on my altima 2.5 s and have had no problems with the sensor light at all. The guy who put my rims on mentioned that to me but I have yet to see any type of sensor error except for being low on windshield wiper fluid.. good luck

I disagree with you, if you need a light to tell you, that you have a flat, then yes, you have problems.

But that light also tells you that your tire pressure is LOW, not that your tire is flat. So when my light turns on, and I am only 5psi too low on one of my tires, I don't feel stupid, I am actually glad, that my car tells me that.

It is hard for me to tell that my back passenger side tire is only 5psi too low, you can't tell by looking at it, and the ride difference is insignificant. So when that light turns on, I just fill my tire.

tire pressure affects MPG, Tire wear, steering control and others.... If 2 tires are 5psi too full, 2 are 3psi too little... the light wont go on... still bad for the car... The TPMS sensors cost a few hundo and are very easily broken... a Tire Pressure Gauge will cost you $1 and its dead on accurate.... Here in NY (especially with 35 tires) i check it weekly.
