I commute from 5500 ft to 900 ft each day in a 40 mi drive. The tire pressure light seems to come on when I'm driving up the mountain, but not always on the way down. Is there any way to be sure there isn't a serious problem (in addition to checking the tire pressure and maintaining equal psi in all four tires)? I tried ignoring the tire pressure light, but that was a bad idea... I suspect tape over the light is also a bad idea.

Does anyone else have this kind of commute and tire woes?

Also-- I have a set of Spike Spiders for another car, but the lug nuts don't fit my Versa. Has anyone used these successfully on a Versa?

Thanks!

What PSI do you have in the tires currently? What's the ambient temp?

I think altitude change might affect the tire pressure to a degree, wouldn't it?

As for the "Spike Spiders", I've never heard of them until this post.

If you don't have nitrogen filled tires, try that first. Nitrogen is denser than air therefore less affected by atlitude pressure. The larger nitrogen molecules have a harder time passing through the rubber.

Spider Spikes look interesting, for sure better than chains. For the record I wouldn't use them.

Looks like the Spikes may only work with steel wheels, that what you have? Or are you trying on SL wheels?

Seems they give you the lug nuts to change out. Did they give you the wrong lugs? Would need to have the correct pitch for Nissan.
