So I got a steal around two years ago, $850 for 18" coupe wheels with new tires (<60 miles on the car!). Problem was the 245's rubbed on my lowered car, and I sold them and replaced with 225's all around. I'm approaching the wear bars now and trying to figure out what is the best option (on 3 tires). I'm thinking one of the following-

1) Leave 225/45/18s Pilot Sports all around OEM, solid performance, ok price2) Go to 245/40/18 Pilot Sport PS2 all around, more expensive, more performance3) Go to 235/45/18 Pilot Sport All Season Plus, cheaper, correct tire size for car, last 45k miles

Any suggestions on the following?

I also planned on taking the 1 tire with good amount of tread left and turning into a full size spare. Any have a 18" coupe rim for sale in Atlanta?

I can only speak from experience about the Pilot Sport A/S. I replaced the OEM Goodyear RSA's on my 03 Coupe with the Pilot A/S. I found them to be far superior, good dry and wet performance and ok in snow. They were even reasonabley quiet. Do you really need an A/S tire in Roswell Ga.? As for 45k miles you must drive on another planet than me. My rears were cooked at 22k and the front could probably have made 25-27k judging what was left when I traded. If you don't need the A/S capability go with one of the other choices. (P.S. I don't drive that hard)

Well the only issue in GA is the ice we get for a couple weeks, and my regular Pilot has done fairly well. I was reading that the PS2s have issues on ice. Plus the Pilot A/S comes in the correct size (so I don't have to guesstimate my speed).

The 45k life is part of the new plus model (the actual tread warranty), if the tires for the same price last 2x as long and performance is 85% the same, I think thats a better investment with the way things are going (1200 every 3 yrs vs 1 yr).

You get ice in Georgia? High elevation?

I like the idea of a full-sized spare too, but realistically, your'e going to have fitment issues in the trunk. Try it out with one of your regular rim/tires first. I did this in my I30, but the size difference wasn't extreme.

Are your tires staggered or the same size all around? I can't see 45k out of any staggered setup.

Option 3 FTW! IMHO the Michelin pilot sport a/s plus is the best a/s tire out there. I'm a huge michelin fan (even though they cost more...), and I've never been let down by their stuff!

I would say go with the 235s but not the P/S If you have a coupe they tend to featheredge and make a racket.

The Bridgestone REOs are my new favorite on coupes they wear well have respectable tread rating for perforamancy tires. Additionally they can be rotated in a cross diagonal pattern to encourage even quite wear.

There are tons of tires available for your car and depending on what your budget is and what you are looking for should dictate the type of tire that is right for you.

I have coupe wheels, but right now run 225/45/18 all around since the 245s rub in the back. I plan on running same size all around for rotational purposes.

I've heard a bit about the REOs, but after my Horenzas, I've been somewhat turned off to Bridgestone. I'm leaning to the A/S +'s just to get that extra life that they claim.

I've personally run the RE040s and RE050As on the G and my old I30. I loved the RE040s on my I30. I truly was able to understand the whole "driving on rails" concept. They did wear pretty fast but still did better than the Dunlop FM901s that I originally had on their. Suspension on that car was kind of loose because of mileage.

On the G, I've run the RE050As a couple of times. I wish they felt as sticky as the RE040s did on my I30 (the I30 was lower than the G and FWD), but they still hold pretty well.

The RE01-Rs that I have up front are holding up pretty good which is surprising.

I personally like bridgestone a lot.

Run the 235/45/18's, it is almost an identical diameter difference as the oem wheel/tire combo.
