it's silly

only a good thing to do when you have really really worn tires and they are to be disposed of anyways

Watching it is only slightly more entertaining than Nascar. More women.

yep..its true. Watching drag racing is boring, but top fuel dragsters are badass. Not that fun to watch them go but they are brute force at its best, Loud as hell too. Sport compact is absolutely worthless however unless your the driver its the most god awful boring thing ever, 10 seems like a long time when your just watching aa car drive down the road...MMMmm rally stage

I don't know, I have a recently found appreciation for drag racing. Especially sport compact drag racing.

I've always been a road racing nut, and those that know me well will attest to that. But being at the NDRA race out in Phoenix in March expanded my horizons. There is some seriously sick technology going into those cars. Seeing numerous 6 second passes from some 6 cylinder cars is truly insane. And seeing 7's with 4 bangers is nothing less than impressive.

I'm not into enough to change my passion from road racing, but I most definitely would not say it's stupid.

I can see were people would like it but to me unless something big happens every run looks pretty much the same. I gets pretty boring unless the cars are closer to 4 seconds IMO at that point I cant help but pay attention.

what makes drag racing apealing to me is the fact that you are going from a dead stop to top speed in a short amount of time. In an area where acceleration is the deciding factor due to the amount of torque and horse power you current set up has.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching all types of auto racing, but when you are sitting still, then launch and feel yourself being pushed into your seat and shifting gears as fast as you can...I am quite fast shifting through gears myself...it just makes the adrenaline rush right through your body.

^^^that is the one things that gets me about top fuel ect....basicly machines to go from a dead stop to stupid fast as quickly as possible thats prety cool IMO but when its not the fastest they can make the machine go, still using tires, It looses alot. Still if you got free tickets Ill go...

Sweet machines are awsome to look at even if they're only trailer queens but after a few runs of drag racing I'd rather be doing something else. At least until they're back in the pits with the engine unvieled.

I can do that with my car.Although it would take a little while longer....Also don't feel like getting new tires when that money could be put towards suspension. So for now I'll onyl burn rubber making turns and shifting gears

they both start with north

my thing with drag racing is its about 80% in the car...road racing takes so much more driver skill that can be appreciated

Yea but when you got 2 equally matched cars then it comes down to the driver's skill.I would love to road race but I'm afriad some idiot would hit me and spin me out.Or while passing on the outside they keep goign straight and run me into grass.

thats why the SCCA has SOLO racing...time trials are still on real tracks...Also Im guessing in a 4 second car there is more to driving it then you would guess....its not just nail the trottle and keep wheel spin down like your average car would be...Keepinng that kinda RWD power going straigh is a handfull im sure.

See the pic a while back where the car was up on it's tail at the end of the track? It's very hard to keep a car straight that has loads fo power.Ever see the video of the 240z with a 454 and blower?Goign 60 steps on the gas and the car just goes sidewayz

Wow, for being car enthusiast some of you are very selective, maybe a little closed minded, but I guess everybody has the right to an opinion. I like compact racing right now because of the close race in the compact series. There are two guys there that have been going neck and neck all season, so to me that's interesting. That's just me.

Well, I can appreciate drag racing for what it is. It's actually more than just the car. The problem I have with it is that it's over so quickly. As a participant, it's a lot of preparation and money to do something that's literally over in a few seconds. Personally I'd much rather race to an apex and continue on, than race in a straight line for 12 seconds and then coast to a stop. That's just me.

Totally agree, plus it helps out alot with finding the correct amount of clutch slipping needed to gain a good 60'. With that tool, you can help take time off your slalom runs, like we do out at Bitburg.

Top fuel cars are freaking awsome. If you don't like drag racing check a top fuel car out some time just for the noise they make and the smell of burned Nitro. There is nothing like it.

Veriest1 what size whell and tire do you run. your car is hot

I like drag racing. It's just a straight line right? but it's still performance oriented and a legit form of motorsports. it's like the 100m for cars

I find it's the opposite for ppl and cars, if it's people, you want the short quick race on a str8, but cars? you want curves, turns and corners.

watching the 5,000m is worse than nascar though
