Hey guys, I finally have my G35!!

I've heard that the tire inflation from the factory is set too high, causing premature wear on the rear tires. If this is the case, what psi should they all be running?

Info should be on the inside of your drivers door. The sedan says 30psi cold, I run 33 psi.

My rep at the dealer says 38 PSI on my '05 coupe.

Is that wrong to any of you out there? If it is then I swear these dumba$$'s at the dealership know nothing.

Can anyone else with a coupe chime in. Ryan maybe?

I'm going with 33 PSI as well on my coupe. I have the 17", but I put non standard size tires on about 7 months ago.

What about the 19s?

I have the 19s on my G35mt and the sidewall says 51 lbs max but the sticker on the door sill says 35. Came from the dealer at 39. I'd rather have them a little hard than soft unless I was racing or driving it hard on some corners.

Not sure I understand your response, if your going to be racing (on a track I would hope) overinflating your tires will give you far better handling than underinflated.

The tire pressure indicators will give you fits in the fall and winter unless you keep the tires at or above 35 psi. I use 35 cold as a baseline. Tire wear seems fairly even at this pressure for street driving. A few times I opted to not run my Hoosiers at the track and inflated the Michelin pilot Sports to 50 front 48 rear without rolling the tires onto the sidewalls.Check the pressures regularly, 20--25,000 miles is about all your gonna get on the max performance summer tires even if well cared for.

If you bought the coupe for its handling characteristics don't put anything less on as replacements you'll kill the thrill.

35psi sounds reasonable. What are the specs for the tire monitoring system? Anyone have any experience with it?

IIRC, the TPMS kicks in somewhere in the 28psi area.

As far as the rear tire wear issue, I've heard of people running as low a pressure as they can while keeping the TPMS happy and they still get it. My own speculation is that it has to do with mounting a 245 wide tire onto a 8" wheel. The 19's are 8.5" wide so I don't think you wil lhave as much of a problem. Both the G and the Z have moved to an 8.5" wheel while retaining the 245 wide tires on their new wheel designs. This further supports my speculation but I have no concrete data yet. I tried to get some feedback from the G and Z guys a while back, but got little response. I'll be keeping an eye on these types of threads to continue trying to gain more data, but it will propbably be slow in coming. Let me know what your experiences are as you continue to own your car.

As far as the PSI, I'd probably not worry too much about it since it sounds like you are on the 19's and run what the OEM suggests.
