I have a 16 inch rim that is 7.5 inch wide. Will I be able to squize a 245/50/16 on it?

Should be fine on a 7.5...a 225/50/16 would be ideal.

If you have the clearance, then go for it. You know how the 225s fit in the wheelwells now, do you have room for .8 inches more? I guess it is more like about .5" inside and out.

Will you rub anywhere with an additional 1/2"?

why would you want to go with such a wide tire on a narrower wheel...

its ignorant. (ignint!) all you'll be doing is pinching the bead and making the tire "balloon" you wont have any more contact patch area, and it'll actually handle worse because youre effective aspect ratio will increase since the sidewall is being squeezed.

Why would I want to do that you ask?Becuase closest tire that they make for what I need it a 245/50/16, other then that they are a 205 then the 245, then jump up to a 275.

Tell me why I couldn't just lower the psi which would put all the tire on the ground.

"Tell me why I couldn't just lower the psi which would put all the tire on the ground."

because then you'd be lsoing load capacity and sidewall strength, for a negligable increase in contact patch. race cars run wider tires on wider wheels at low air pressure because the tires and car themselves are made for the abuse/setup..

a street car is not.

also, again, you'd be pinching the bead, causing it to baloon out at the top. it's your car, you can do what you want. but remember this:"just because you CAN doesnt mean you SHOULD"

think about it. if the contact patch wont get any larger, its less safe, more expensive, and you lose rotation ability(for your tires)..why are you so hell bent on doing it? if you're looking for drag radials, BFG makes them in the 225-50-16....that's perfect for a 7.5" wheel.

You already have 225/50/16...unless you are at really high HP, that much contact patch is pleanty for your 240.

Maxima guys always think that wider=better, not realizing that the tires that they drop $800 on are more tire than the car can USE. I think that your case may be similar- you don't NEED more tire than a 225, and you have the right rime to run them. Why change a good thing?
