I just purchased a 2006 M45 Sport with 24k miles on it.

The only problem I have with it is a noise when slowing down. It sounds like a rubbing tire, a wheel out of balance, a bad brake, a wheel bearing....I don't know!

I purchase it from a dealer and before I bought it the noise was there so I had them turn the rotors, put on new pads. I also had new tires installed and the wheels balanced.

The sound was gone when I picked it up but came back within a few hours.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

Also how bad is the road noise in your M45 Sport. I drove a M35 and it was not half this loud on the interior.

Other than the noise this is the best car I have ever owned. Fast, Handling and the brakes are all great.

Thanks

I have my 06 M35x for two months now. My M has humming noise when it come to complete stop. Not sure if it is the same noise you have. I had my dealer look at this twice and they keep on telling me the break is fine. It's only 20% worn. They did say it's a bit dirty from brake dust. They cleaned it up and the noise when away for a while. It's almost like a norm thing for Infiniti, I might be wrong. I drove a 07 G35 loaner last Friday (brought my M in for oil change) which only has 7k miles on it. The G35 has the exact noise my M has. I am still looking for the real answer. I drove many cars, I never had this noise.

When i bought my 03 M, i had a pulsating sound coming from the rear, come to find out I had a bad tire. The tires were new on the car. Had about 300 miles on them.

Hey there, the noise on the M45 sports comes from the tire wear on the front tires and front factory alignment angles. I would recommend having the tires rotated every oil change and make sure they are cross rotated not just front to back. Once the noise occurs you will not really be able to cure it until you replace the tires. With a new set of tires you will be to hold off on the noise most likely.

When you do get a new tires and rear brakes soon (since your almost near thirty k) have them do an alignment and get a printout to see that everything is within spec.

As long as they are not directional tires though ...

Very true I was assuming they were still the OE tires which are not directional.

My 06 has the same noise.

What tires do you have on there?

I am sure it is one of 2 things.

1) the tire wearing poorly (chopping)2) the wheel bearing

I am going to have them inspect both on Monday.

My M is at the dealer for an unrelated problem, and I just noticed the same noise today on my loaner G35 Sedan (with 14k miles on it).

I took it to the Dealer and they found the problem

Bad right front bearing....

The service manager said it was only the second one he has seen. they took care of everything under warranty....

Thanks for all the replys

Interesting, I have only seen a few of those go bad.

Was the noise worse when you were turning?

No, that was why I thought it might have been something else. Turning right or left didn't change the sound.

The sound had an oscillation to it and went up in freq as the speed was increased. to me it sounded more like a caliper that was not fully releasing.

It could be but that's not too common, more likely to be a bearing.Especially if you have the sport wheels. Get it looked at it should be warranty.

I have '06 m45 sport with 27000 miles. I was also getting a constant noise while driving. I replaced Bridgestone Potenza tires with 255/40 - 19 Yokohama S drive and it is much better. Now during driving the noise is gone, but I still get the noise while breaking and while making the turns. As I know wheel bearing should last about 100,000 miles. I wonder if I shoud go and check wheel bearings with the dealer? Or maybe something else causes it?

Yes I have the same noise although it didn't start until I went to the dealer to have the brakes replaced. Today I put new struts and shocks OEM same noise at 60k miles on a 2006 M35 a front bearing going out was never thought of.I was going to put new rubber even though I have 60% tread left on a set of cooper tires I immediately got rid of the OEM goodyears and thing have been quiet until two weeks ago. What kind of tires are you guys using looking for quietness and at least 400 tread wear... Anyone have Khumo's and what do you think of them
