I have 2010 Murano LE. Time for some new tires, factory installed "Toyo" tires are about shot with 35,000 miles on them. Anyone have advice/experience on good touring type tire. I am most interested in comfortable ride and low road noise. I also am interested in something that provides good traction in snowy Wisconsin conditions as I will run the tires year round without changing to a snow tire.

Thanks to anyone who would take the time to respond. (I currently have P235 55R20)

Interested as well. Just got a new 2011 LE for the wife and couldn't find any stock size 20" snow tires for it at TireRack or Discount Tire. Winter is about over here, so I don't expect her driving in any significant snowy conditions, how did your factory Toyos perform in the snow?

Had Toyo Proxes from factory. Very poor in snow. 35,000 miles on them now and tread is down to the wear bars and that is with easy driving also. Very disapointed in them. I see that they only list a 300 tread wear rating which is very low.

Have been doing a lot of checking with tire dealers in my area. Apparently size P235 55R20 is not that common and very hard to get. was told that it would be a 6 month wait for Michelin or Yokohama brands, leaving me with only the Toyo choice again.

Fortunately I know a very knowledgebale mechanic who is going to get me some Toyo Open Country tires $1035 for four. He claims they are nothing like the Toyo Proxes. They have a more aggressive tire pattern which is good in the snow and that they will be as good as or better in quietness on the highway. They also have a written 60,000 mile warranty (wow). He claims that are very high quality tire which Is a much better value than the Michelin or Yokohama.

Welcome to NICOclub RAYSER!!!! The staff is thrilled to have you as a new member and I am always happy to welcome a fellow Wisconsinite!

Regarding the tires, there are very few options for the 20" Murano tires. I had previously owned a 2009 Murano which had the same tires on it, and they are decent tires, however, I did not have it long enough where the wear was an issue. On Tire Rack there are two other options, one is the Michelin Latitude, and those tires are terrible in the snow and ice, at least on an Armada with 20" rims. If your mechanic buddy has a good idea, I would go with that!

Thanks Timmbo.

Having new tires installed today. Should have a chance here in Wisconsin to test them in snow yet this season.

Personally I think Michelin is the best for you. Its gonna last you a long time (with proper maintenance) and they are pretty safe tires. They are not the cheapest thing but thats what you have to compromise with having a 20inch wheel.

Never tried them in the snow so I dont know how they are first hand. But they are designed for it.
I use to sale tires

Here is the deal, overall, Michelin makes a great tire. The Latitude is their entry level tire. It was literally a horrible tire on the Armada in 20" size in snow, ice, and slush. I don't mean bad, I mean TERRIBLE! For a large 4WD vehicle, it is pathetic being passed by front wheel drive Saturns and other cars and minivans while I can hardly keep the back end from "squiggling" back and forth. I had an '08 Armada with the exact same tire and size, same thing. I have a few buddies with the same tire and size on their Armada and QX56 (2008-2010 had the exact same tire) and had the same issues. By the time I was to 25,000 miles on both vehicles there was about 7/32 of tread left, but the tires would squeal around corners, loud on the highway, and slick in the rain.

Now, how a tire performs from one vehicle to the next can be very different, but the Latitude is the Michelin entry level tires, and they certainly have some tires that are top notch performers, I don't believe this to be one of them.

The guy I bought my tires from did say that the Michelin Latitude was terrible in snow and would wear out really fast because of the softness of the rubber. I don't know this first hand, just what I was told. Plus you are looking at $300+ per tire.

Anyway's, I went with the Toyo Open Country 60,000 mile warranty (4) mounted, balanced, installed for $995.00

Thanks for imput Chewbacca and Timmbo

I recently purchased a set of Toyo Versado CUV tires for my wife's 2010 LE. So far they are great tires, very quiet on the road and have had no problems in any weather so far. (Though this winter in Iowa has been VERY mild) This is a link to where I purchased them. I was looking at the Open Country also, but they said that is more of a truck tire and that the Versado would ride much better. good luck.

That's funny you mention that, I read a lot of good things about those tires, they seem to be the good fit for a Murano.

My OEM Toyo Proxes just gave up the ghost this past month at 43K miles.

After considerable research, I went with Yokohama Parada Spec-X 255/50/20's. Lots of positive reviews on their ride quality, all-season capabilities, and their specific design for CUV's. The size is not exactly the same as the OEM Toyo's, but they are close enough that the speedo variance is off by like only 1% (can't remember the exact amount, but it was very minimal and immaterial).

Got all 4 purchased, mounted and balanced for $920. Only been a few days but so far am happy. These tires also have a pretty aggressive look to them in terms of the tread pattern and the fact that they sit a little "fatter" and give my LE a little better stance.

That is a darn good price, keep us all posted as to how you like them as the months go by!
