well, i pulled the engine finally....got all the parts i need and the beast is being built as we speak. it only took 14 months to get around to it

anyway, while i'm at it i'm gonna rewrap, mesh and soder my wiring harness. now i have disconnected it from the ecu and what appears to be the dash harness. i tried to pull it directly out of the firewall but that didn't work to well. i'm afraid it pull too hard and cause serious damage.

does anyone have any ideas or tips? how did you guys do it? also, any one want to suggest doing anything else to the harness besides heatwrap, mesh and resoddering??

thanks guys

I see in your sig that you have an s13 & s14. When removing the old ka harness from my s14 I got stuck at the same spot. I had to remove my glove box, and undo the bottom 2 nuts that hold in the blower motor to pull it back a bit. Since I already had discharged my a/c system to have my fabbed up lines made, I also removed the screws for the evaporator core and removed it too, to buy myself a bit more room down there.

I guess that you could re-pin each individual wire on the sr f4 dash plug since they look identical. I'm just going to solder my m63 plug in place of the f4 plug I think.

Come on bro, share the knowledge. I looked at the "how to post pics" tutorial, and it seems to be a different/old format, and I couldn't figure it out.

I'm also trying to find more wiring info on swapping an s14 sr into s14 kouki.

If you get it out make sure you post how you did. I tried to take mine out last night and finally was like forget it.

Yeah I did but I already got the glove box out (never had it in). I'm just stuck on the rubber grommet thing the wire goes through, I think its screwed up.

What chasis are you guys referring to since you both neglected to mention? Is it an s14? Do you have abs?

There might be a zap-strap holding it in place at the the inside of where the harness feeds through the fire-wall. Cut it, lube and then remove the fire-wall grommet, and start pulling the harness out into the engine bay, when you get to the interior plugs, feed each one through individually so you don't damage them.

I wouldn't remove the dash just yet.

Did you remove the two nuts at the bottom of the blower motor that hold it in place to gain a bit of room?Do you have A/C?If yes, is it charged with refrigerent ot not?Do you have abs?Not to seem like a prick, but answer ALL the questions to help me, help you.

Remove the 4 nuts/bolts for the abs actuator, which is directly blocking the firewall grommet, and pull towards strut tower. Attatch a bungee cord to it to keep it from wandering back, and start to pull the harness through. You might also need to temporarily move the cruise control parts there too.

I COULD NOT GET MINE OUT WITHOUT MOVING THE BLOWER MOTOR OUT AN INCH OR SO.

Try it, and post back.
