Well my teacher has the compressor and a really good paint gun and everything I need to paint my car, he says I can use it I will just have to supply the paint and paint it myself. My question is what kinda motion do I use while painting my car? And any other tips would be helpful. This will be my first time painting a car and ive never seen someone do it before so im not sure exactly how to apply it.

And also should I totally strip off the old paint or just rough it up with a scotch pad or fine sandpaper? Before I primer that is.

you should definately sand it down to bare metal if you want the best quality paint job...and use lots of coats...

scoth brite pad every surface, then while holding the gun at about 1.5-2 feet away from the surface, go left to right, letting go of the trigger at the end of the pass.

yea, there is no point in going to the bare metal, just start with rough grit and go finer and finish with about 600 or 800.
