2003 infinityQ45
Remove all the nice plastic pieces on the battery, air cleaner case, and engine.
1.remove the Air duct (inlet) by removing the 2 black bolts
2.remove the air filter
3.then remove the black bolt holding the Air cleaner case to the car body
4.unclip the Mass air flow sensor and and pull the vacuum hose off the intake pipe also unclip the small clip that’s in the air cleaner case for the air flow sensor wires
5. Then remove the black and bronze bolt in the bracket holding the air cleaner case #11 on the diagram
6.un bolt the 2 bronze bolts 1 is for the L looking pipe (lower left zoom image on the diagram) and the other by the oil dipstick
7.now loosen the brackets the one by the throttle body and the intake pipe, the one for the L looking pipe, and the bracket between the flex pipe and the solid pipe(the pipe where #4 is )
8.now that the bracket for the L pipe is loose pull it back gently and now u see the metal pipe that goes connected to the intake one side and a rubber hose in the other, pull both clips back especially the one connected to the rubber hose since that’s where we are taking it apart from, but before that do step 9
9.below the in the right side of this hose u see a 10mm NUT that is NOT mentioned in the diagram(the one that was given me problems)remove the nut
10.now from the flex pipe and the solid pipe (#4)separate them carefully
11.now remove the 2 clips holding the plastic piece in the front of car
12.the carefully remove the air cleaner case caution in the front is the horn and a hose for the radiator reservoir and the plastic piece in the front of the car
13.now remove the front part of the intake pipe making sure to pull the metal pipe from the rubber hose its kind of difficult since the intake bracket below the L pipe is still on the stud or bolt (what ever its called)
Now it should be off, keep in mind this are just tips and I am an amature mechanic please feel free to correct me and the manual also says to replace part #3 o-ring every time u disassemble I didn’t since I didn’t take it apart so that’s up to u,but please study this with my pics and the manual to cross reference and look at the car as well before attempting
Im sorry for any misspelled words I just finished all this and changing my spark plug, and took me 4hrs,it’s the first time I do it in this car and am tired but decided to post this to help who ever need it
Here u see the Mass air flow sensor and and pull the vacuum hose ..also the clamp above of the air flow sensor that need to be loosened and is where u start to separate the assembly step 10
The L looking pipe and the bracket that needs to be loosened
Below the L pipe u see the bronze nut ¼ of it is covered by the L pipe.u also see the metal pipe pull back the spring clips on the intake and on the plastic hose found under the L pipe
Better view of the darn nut and the bracket connecting to the assembly
The bronze colt in step6 the other bolt is on the top part of the L pipe cant miss it
The first two clips on the right have to be removed not the third but u can if u like(I think this plastic piece is the radiator cover)when removing the air cleaner case gently pull back on it to remove the case, u can also see the horn in the pic but also beware of the plastic hose located there
