tips on getting the codes from ecu.

Ok so I have a 96 s14 with a 93 rb20det with nistune. The ecu has one red light. The light comes on and stays on. Ive tried twisting the flat head screw as it says both counter clockwise first then clockwise and the other way. Light just stays red. Figured maybe cause of the nistune. But as the car wont start the consult isnt working for whatever reason. Any ideas to get this to work would be much appreciated.
