Last year my buddy took His Contour in to have the R134A toppedand a basic check, The shop told Him they couildn't find a leak and they didn't know what the problem was.
That night I suggested he replace the Schrader valve cores, as I'd learned previously that they were a common source of leakage.Reluctantly He did as I suggested, after His Wife pleaded with Him to try it
He already had his own manifolds & guages, and figured what the HeckHe went to the local neighborhood ford Stealer and ordered the valve cores, a week later He installed them, and what do you know the Wife has a A/C and I'm a hero
Which brings me to todays A/C Tip I had picked up a Schrader valve kit for my Gen 4 at my local Napa last week as the temps actually soared to 100 here in the O.C. . I'm 4 miles from the water, and it was sweltering Hot MUST HAVE A/C So Today, instead spending 25.00 on R134 at wally world I had a great idea.
I'll pop into my local neighbrhood garage with the schraders in my hand and proclaim "Hey Guy" How much to vaccumthis sucker down, put these schrader cores in and refill the system?without giving me clue as to what i was looking at the Guy said bring it back tommorow after lunch............
Popped back in there after Lunch today, and they installed the schrader cores and evacutuated the system, 45 minutes later I drove out of there with my balls freezing cost 5.00 more than I would spent on 24oz of refridgerant.............. Hope you enjoyed my A/C service tip as much as my Freind Bill's wife & I did
