I recently bought a '89 240, and it has a leaking #1 fuel injector, and 3 brake rotors need replacing because they are below "minimum" thickness.

Does anyone have any tips on how i could fix these problems with the least amount of $$$ possible ( while still being safe )?

THANKS ALOT!

i would replace the rotors first... the fuel injector can wait, all replacing that will give you is better gas milage and some more power... but why have that if you cannot stop...

you can get the rotors from many sponsors or autoparts stores or even junk yards... and are really easy to replace...

Replace the fuel injector before you do anything. Running with a bad injector can seriously damage your engine. Below minimum thickness just means the rotors are more prone to cracking. Don't drive like a maniac before you replace them and you'll be fine.

i know stopping is, well....important, but my injector is leaking gas preeetty badly. However, I just spent every last cent to my name on this car... so it would be a huge help if you could tell me where to get a decent, but cheap, injector. Or (even better), does anyone know any common problems with injectors i could be overlooking? thanks!!!!!!

One of our sponsors NissanParts.org is an excellent resource for OEM Nissan parts, to boot they are generally very reasonable with their pricing, and they have excellent customer service.

Of course there are tons of parts for sale on the forum as well, we got tons of great and knowledgeable folks on here.

Another suggestion, you can also try getting the rotors off of ebay if you just need something to get you through, I got a whole set when I was in College for ~150. You really save money in the long run if you can do the work yourself, thats what go me into working on my car, I was POOR. However I found that I really enjoyed it and there is a sense of pride about fixing stuff yourself.

If you haven't already download a copy of the Factory Service manual for your make an model of Nissan, i don't know the address right off the bat, but do a search for FSM using the Nico search button. It is an INVALUABLE resource for troubleshooting probles with your car.

where is your injector leaking from? is it where the injectors and the fuel rail connect? if so just go buy a 0-ring kit at a local part store. same thing with brake rotors. dont go cheap and only change 3 rotors either.

OK, bad news...I've had time to make a more detailed look at the car, and it seems that, in the rack and pinion, the right Bellows is split, and the rack is leaking....

any brilliant ideas or insights??? cause I sure dont want to have to replace much there....

ok, before i ask another question, (and everyone's probably guessed this) I am a total idiot when it comes to any of this stuff.

But anyway, on top of everything else....my Speedometer isn't working...ever, not just intermitantly or anything.

The wierd thing is that my Odometer works just fine. I used to think that they shared a cable...but now im just....confused. Im thinking now that the problem is gonna be located behind the cluster, and not where the cable "thingy" attaches to the transmision.

I know I'm probably waaay off, so any help would be great! THANKS!
