hey everyone, i've really like to know how everyone launches their sr powered cars. Whenever I race my friends and their ka's (they have intakes and exhausts basically) I always seem to play catch up. I'll rev to maybe 4 grand and drop the clutch and sit there spinning while they gain maybe a car length and then i'll catch up by 2nd gear and start to pass by the middle of 2nd.... If I launch lower i seem to bog out and loose speed off the line. Should I not drop the clutch and ride it out and then floor it so i don't get as much wheelspin?

this my current setup:

89 hatch - completely gutted98 180sx blacktop @7psi with stock t25K&N filterHKS hipower exhaustGreddy downpipeSkyline gts-t vlsd with 4.36 rear end + 5 bolt axlesProclutch sprung 6puck and hiclamp pressure plateJUN Billet Steel flywheel @ around 11lbseibach sportlines with kyb agx's

Take out the eibach and go back to stock suspension..... squat ftw

And dont drop the clutch.... slip it until you feel grip from the car

Without doing anything to your car...try riding the clutch and not popping. Popping will only give you wheel spin as you've experienced. Keep practicing....

Other than that, make sure you don't have cheap tires...sticky tires and wide contact patch makes a world of difference.

I think your launching a little too high using the T25. Should be good to slip the clutch from 3k rpm. Slip the clutch enough to get the car rolling, then go for it. Another thing that will help is setting the AGX struts to the softest setting in the back. The 4.36 rear helps and hurts you too. Gives fast acceleration but only if you can grip. If you find yourself slipping the clutch and still spinning after rolling, then its time for better compound/wider tires.

well u got a pucked clutch, so i think slipping isn't such a good idea. try dropping it from around 3.5k and not completely flooring it afterwards. i think you should just practice practice because each car behaves differently ( mine hops like crazy )

hey rob! yeah i still remember you fool. the car's doing alright...just have a few issues...my k&n filter fouled my maf i think because i'm running real rough and can't rev pass 2k rpms on occasion. I took my intake apart and cleaned the maf...the filter looks to be a goner tho so i ended up buying another k&n....like a dumbass....

how's your car coming along? i'm trying to up the boost on mine once it's running right...i think my motor can take around 10-12 psi as it runs real strong when it actually runs right haha

well i think i have a decent sized contact patch...225/50's all around on 16x7 +20 ssr superfins. Whenever i launch at around 3k i seem to bog off the line and loose speed on my 0-60ft...

i'm going to try not flooring it all the way until i have grip and see if that works. how are you guys launching? anyone have a similar setup to mine?

won't play too much catch up if you up the psi 13-15psi 230-250 hp roughly and safely with the stock s13 sr20det "heavy throttle"
