TIP NEEDED: cruise control plastic stop button install

Have a 98 I30 and the plastic cruise control disengage button on the brake arm disintegrated - so cruise disengaged all the time. It is in a difficult not much room place to press in a new one without taking the brake lever off - don't want to do that.

Any tips to install a new INFINITI/NISSAN hard plastic button?

Thought about heating it in hot water to soften it + grease to aid getting on without much force?
