My trim plate had a huge crack /large chip on the center bar that separates the radio from the a/c controls. Luckily I found a used trim plate in a junkyard that was broken all across the bottom but had the center bar intact. I cut the bad section out of mine and the good section of the other plate on the ends. Then I took a craft stick(just wooden flat sticks like popsickle sticks that I got at Walmart) and epoxied one of those to my trim plate(expoxy on both ends of broken area so the stick spanned the section). Then I epoxied the good section from the junkyard trim plate to the stick. This gave extra support to that area and really doesn't interfere with how the plate fits. After a little bondo ,filler and paint I can't tell there ever was a crack.Using Duplicolor filler/primer really helped. It's sandable and really helped fill minor imperfections in the surface.
