I own a 2004 M45 with just 30K miles on it. I bought it new in 2004 so no way is the 30K wrong. It is pristine and I maintain it like the nut I am. Every little issue gets fixed ASAP.
Here is my problem I hope someone has had and can help me out. On start up and idle I hear a small, not loud, mid-pitch whine. At any speed I cannot hear it. This is really bugging me as it just started and was never there before. What I do know is its not the heater AC blower. Turning the steering wheel does not change it. I have heard all forms of alternator whines and I am pretty sure it is not that. I have heard over the 40+ years I have owned and worked on cars water pumps, cam shafts, piston knocks, main bearings going and many others. I am quility of not trying to ID location yet. I hear this whine while in the drivers seat. What gets me is I have never heard this type of whine before. Has any 2003-2004 M45 owners had anything similiar? If so what was it? Thanks for any help, advice you can give. I will post the general location once I get time to ID it. I admit I am a fanatic about keeping this car in perfect condition so I was hoping for a quick hit or suggestion as to what this weird whine could be. Thanks!!!
