I am noticing some very tiny scratches/swirl marks after waxing my car. You can only see them if you are within a foot of the spot your looking at. I notice them mostly on the roof. I just noticed this now under flourescent light, not sure about how it looks in the daytime.

I am using the Turtle Wax Ice spray wax.

Is this normal? Anyone else have this problem? Are they just marks from giving it a bad wax job? How can I get rid of the marks? Or is this just the flourescent lights playing tricks with my eyes?

Thanks.

Its called micro-marring. Its the beginning of swirl marks. There are TONS of things that contribute to it, everything from your wash mit, your style of washing, the soap you use, if you dust your car off and how, how you applied the protectant, what kind of cloths you used to apply and remove the protectant.... etc.

I was pissed because the dealership did a poopy job prepping my car. They did i quick BS wash and i could see those light light light scratch/swirls in the paint (not visible to most people that aren't that picky). Part of me wishes i demanded them to leave all the protective stickers on and not wash it and to let me take care of it LOL (yeah sometimes i get too obsessed)

P.S. Fluorescent lighting is known to be the best to find those marks, and also the worst to view the car under because it shows EVERYTHING

I use the double-bucket method to wash... using a clean sponge and Turtle Wax Zip Car Wash.

I use those shammy (sp?) things to dry.

And I am using Turtle Wax Ice Spray wax with a plain white clean T-shirt.

I had a few people look at it and they say the marks are normal and nothing to really worry about, just the grain of the metal.

As long as your comfortable with it.

Shammy's (sp? LOL) and white cotton t-shirts are kinda left for the old school. Microfiber is whats latest and greatestfor drying, cleaning, detailing, etc

a TSHIRT? Are you silly man??I never washed my own car EVER (ive owned a car for 8 yrs).... And i did my first wash a few weeks ago... Read what Misfit says about washing, hes got show cars... A 2 bucket method is useless if you are going to touch a tshirt to your car.. Wash with micorfiber or sheepskin... dry with air, MF or Absorber... THE END.
