My Father in law (professional body and paint man) is going to tint my tail lights for me tomorrow, only one thing I cant decide if I want the entire tail tinted or just the red part (leaving the clear reverse light as is). here is a link to a car with the style I'm thinking about, http://www.cardomain.com/membe...l.jpg, hey maybe that will work? I dont know I'm pretty stupid with the computer thing. all opinions would be greatly appreciated. I'll post pics with the finished deal after the car gets buffed tomorrow as well.

That was the way I was leaning towards as well, but my wife and her dad are trying to get me to do the whole thing, well I'll be pulling them in a couple of hours after I work off my killer hangover. so still some time to put in your two cents. I'm probably going to do the side markers and maybe the fogs as well, definatly leaving the headlights alone but I 'm undecided about the side mirrors turn signals??

I know I've seen the thread about how to properly remove the clear light on our side mirrors before but can't seem to find it anywhere, does anyone have the link or instructions? thanks

I personally like the contrast of the clear/white side mirrors. I would love to get a hold of some side turns that were clear that I could just throw some orange bulbs in.

With the tail lights, is it a spray tint or just a normal tint job? If its a tint job what is the % tint your using? That car looks almost like it was a spray tint. If not it looks like a 20% or so.

Let me know, thanks...............

Well I just pulled all the lights except for the ones in the side mirrors, I want to get those too, but not at the expense of breaking something. We are painting the lights, it looks way better than film, and lasts alot longer as well. As far as the mix I don't know but I'll ask him because I know he went through a couple of combinations while experimenting to get the right look. He just sprayed his tails yesterday so I figure if its good enough for his giant expensive *** truck, well then it's good enough for the M. Just waiting on him to get back from some errands and we'll start. I figure a couple of coats of tinit a couple coats of clear and viola, oh and I decided on leaving the clear part alone.

If anyone has any idea how to remove the side mirror turn signal lights I would greatly appreciate it.

all done, i ended up doing the whole tail and I'm glad I did, looks super good, did the side markers as well, never figured out how to get to the side mirror signal so that is still white, figured the front of the mirror pops off, but I didn't want to make a costly mistake. Took about 4 coats of paint to get it done and 2 coats of clear. The mix he used was a black tint paint mixed with a plastic bonding agent, I'll get the actual names later for you, only took about 5 min to dry between coats so the whole process took about 20-30 min of spraying and drinking beer, along with about an hour to bake in the sun. now I'm off to the detail shop for a buff. pics to come soon.

as you can see the tint varyies depending on how much light is shining on them (the sun), at night they are completley dark, but do not block any of the brake light's brightness. I like them I was pretty skeptical at first but it has grown on me. As for the comment about the aftermarket look, well um that is kind of the whole idea of doing it. You are right its not for everyone, but it is for me! And that is what counts because in the end its my car and I'll do whatever the heck I want to it. BTW I have been getting a lot of comments on it since I painted the tails soooo? and I just turned 25 so it must be a young thing? haha

what do you mean the fact that I'm 25 makes it worse??? are you mad that I can afford more than one M at a time at 25? Should I even show you what is behind door number three, or would that make it even worse? (04 KB cobra 8K miles) seriously man why don't you say nice car... good job... umm keep it up... crap anything besides having a problem with my awesome taste in cars. I bought the 35 because I kept reading about how infiniti fixed all the problems they had with the old M and yada yada yada, not impressed at all.... Its for sale, and actually I'm buying a new STS-V this week to put in its place. I can't really figure you out. First you said you didn't like the tint, it was to aftermarket for your taste. Then it was okay, you would do it but not as dark... holy cow man, who gives a flying rats butt how young people are. I remember ogoling over this car in the showroom when my folks bought a G35 in 03, now I own one and love it. And for good measure, my trusty old dog loves the REAL M over the "refined" one (even though he has never steped foot in the 45). well here is a pic that most people would love to have. jeeezus

I think that M looks amazing. I especially love how you debadged the entire trunk lid.

That look also grew on me, but I figured if I didn't like it well then new badges wouldn't be to hard to get. I love this car because of its rare factor, and the people who know what it is are jealous of me for it too! Such a cruiser.

nice work! Black es the only color you can pull this off on and have it look strictly official and the side marks are 100% . Good luck on the mirror marks.

I'm curious to hear about the procedure/chemical combo. If I were to get mine done what and who would you recommend or maybe I can cruz up to AZ.

It looks nice. But the original link you provided, the little extra "white" strip really pops out. Would have been something to consider when putting yours through the paces

Either way, it looks nice a clean, good job

thanks for the nice comments guys, cake your M is super bad ***, I would like to get your look down with the wheels, I've been looking for a while for a set that looks right, with out copying your car to much. As far as the mix I still have to ask my father in law, He said it was a black toner mixed with an adherent to bond to plastic ???? I'm no paint guy so I'll get back to you on the technical stuff. It was super easy, about three to four coats with 5 min between and then a few coats of clear and an hour in the sun to dry. I think any good body/paint shop will know how to do it, the paint looks so much better then the film, and you can vary the level of tint. It would be a lot easier to do if you had an unpainted set to base it off of, because when your one or two coats in to it, it is really hard to tell what they started out at. Just a suggestion. I think I would have been safe with one coat less or one coat more, any thing else would have been unoticable or just plain black all the time. I think I'll leave the side markers whit for a while, maybe if I can pick up a set and test them out, also my buddy was trying to get me to do the headlights and I was like well if it looks terrible that would be a 14-1800 dollar mistake. not willing to take the risk. also I'm trying to locate a grill or make one up to get rid of the oval, if it came off of the stock one and didn't leave a huge hole I would be set because I really like our grills how the are but that is not the case unfortunently.

I absolutely love what you did to your car! I have always wondered what my M would look like with tinted tails and side markers, and thanks to you, that is my exact car with a de-badged trunk and tinted tail lights! I really like how the look changes with sunlight and shadows too. The side pic of your car in the driveway in the shade is awesome! The car looks intimidating.

Cool dog too - Looks like he/she is keeping watch over the M's!

thanks M45-Zero, if anybody is wondering about debadging your trunk the letters are all stuck on no hole what so ever. I just used a small flathead to gently pry them off being super careful not to touch the paint. The "INFINITI" on the silver trim works the same way but it is a little more difficult, that peice actually looks like it could be stripped of the satin finish and be chrome as well??? Then spend hours picking off the residue, or get a rubber wheel and take it off in about a minute? your choice. Thanks for all the great comments, I'm digging the 45 now more than ever. Oh and My poor dog, he ate a whole frigging ham casserole thing last night, needless to say he is not a happy camper today at all. Serves the mother-fer right though, I was looking forward to eating that today!

If you like the foose speedsters, go for it my man. I will not frown. To be honest with, there was a white 04 M here in town with the same FOOSE SPEEDSTER rims, but in 19’s and I actually consulted with him because he was in the business of car/parts/audio and he suggested I go for it. I went with 20, and he has since sold his white M to some outta town but any how….

Dood I never thought about 19's that might look super good, I have been debating about 20's for some time now, I need to drop the car first, then fit the wheels. the only bad deal with 19's are the tires ,$$$, but I'm going to check them out for sure now. It's funny I saw your car on cardomain a couple months back when I was trying to decide on a nice daily and that was when I remembered how mother f'n sweet these cars are. cheers!

You aren't making a good name for yourself on this site. Being you are only three years older than the OP makes you little more than an annoying tard.Plus, after reading your other posts, why are you here at all?
