I had my tint done a few days ago. When it was first done it look great, but a few hours I noticed that there were tiny spots that look like air bubbles developing on the back window near some of the defroster lines. I tried running my finger across it, but felt nothing. Then I tried to smooth it out with a credit card, but nothing happened either. Does anyone know if this is normal....or should I be worried?

Also, I am a little confused on this tinting laws here it NY. State law makes it illegal for motorists to tint their windshields below the top 6 inches, and to tint the front driver and passenger windows to block more than 30 percent of all light transmission. So, since I have 35% on all window, but the front, is that legal or not?

The bubbles in your tint are the result of a bad tint job. I'd bring it back and tell them to redo it before you give them time to make up some bs excuse.

Also, I don't think there's a large enough difference between 30 and 35 for a cop to pull you over even if you had your front windows tinted. I'd say you're alright.

They probably don't do much scraping. I have seen a solvent at the autoparts store that takes off window tint, so it's probably pretty painless.

And the sooner they can remove it the better. The adhesive cures with heat and time, but they should fix their poor work regardless of the cost to them.

Good luck

No excuse for a poor job, especially from a shop!

Some of the tiny spots will go away with a few days in the sun,the ones that dont will never go away. Some windows are hard to tint. The small dots that the factory puts on the rear windows are a b|tch to tint over.If you are not satisfied then for sure take it back.

most defitely take it back, get it done untill you're satisfied, and 35 percent should be fine, however there will always be that *** hole cop that might get you, so u never know

When my tinting was done I had an issue with my 08 Coupe 3.5SE on the rear window...

The top 6 inches or so where the dot matrix is has issues staying flat. You end up with white blotches and whatnot in areas.

My tinter sandpapered the dot matrix down a bit so the tint would make better contact.

When I picked my car up there was a bunch of white blotches still, although now-- a week or so later most of it has gone away and it looks clean as hell! There is only a tad bit of white and you really need to be up close to see it.

You mentioned bubbles-- there may be a few small bubbles at first the day of the install or even up to a few days later.. but if the bubbles remain after 3 days or more it is definitely a sign of a crappy job and I highly recommend bringing your vehicle back.

In regards to your legalities questions...http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/NY/

Your tint must allow 70% or more light transmission in to be legal in NY and PA. That means 70% tint is legal. Anything lower than 70% tint is technically illegal.

Usually cops won't be bothered with anything 35% or higher since 35% can be fairly easily looked through... it's all about the safety of the officer and other officers and if they can look into your vehicle or not incase they'd have to pull you over... hope that makes sense.

I got 18% on my rear window and 35% on my 1/4 windows and my fronts... the 1/4 windows look much darker (almost 18% like the rear due to there not being a lot of light back there) and the front windows are just light enough to be able to look in incase a cop had any issues...

I haven't had any problems yet, if worst comes to worst and you get pulled over-- if your tint is really low/dark roll all your windows down and put your hands on the steering wheel or out the window as a means of communicating to the officer that you are unarmed and not dangerous.

Regardless of all of that 35% should be more than fine as long as you don't run into any PITA cops... but as my experience has shown-- they'll respect you if you respect them.

Yeah I have had my A/C back to the tint shop twice now for the rear window and it still looks like crap. Where the dot matrix is there are wrinkles but the owner of the shop said that the adhesive doesn't stick to the dot matrix so I am SOL.

Not my fault!! I'm lazy, didn't look at the date, and it was the second or third thread from the top!

My installer sandpapered the dot matrix down a tad bit to allow the adhesive to stick. After a week or so now it looks perfect!! He did a darn nice job. I'd recommend you bring it back to your installer and have him sandpaper the dot matrix down a tad bit so the tint will apply better. Good luck!
