Always wanted to tint my taillights, Shops around here are charging $80-150, so I bought some cheap film on ebay for $12 and decided to give it a try when I had time, If I didnt like it or did a bad job its only a few buck and comes right off. Better then spraying the lights and being stuck with it. The film I got was just a 24"x24" sheet and the tint is a light smoke. Installation wasn't as easy as I thought and took me about an hour. Hardest part is stretching the tint around the light. It would probably be a lot easier if I had help. But for being m first time I think I did a decent job. I'm thinking about trying it again, but this time a little bit darker and I'm gonna try a pre-cut kit from Rvinyl since its pretty cheap ($15), they also have a Headlight kit that I'm thinking of trying to protect the light from rocks/scratches.

Here are some before and after pics (crappy iphone pics):

Definitely a nice touch especially the color of the car you have. I am looking into this also maybe this summer. Always liked dark colors.

How dark is that? %wise

It's a light smoke, and the description said it let's 87% light pass through. I'm thinking of going one shade darker which I think was 67% shines through. I just dont want them too dark that the cops are gonna hassle me.

I might do this next, but I'd go a bit darker.

Where'd you order the Pre cut film from?

Looks good man, I'd recommend taking the "M" off... it seems a little tacky being there all by itself, imo.

I'm prolly gonna order a darker film today or tomorrow, and the have them on ebay for $20 shipped, The company is called Rvinyl, and they have an offer that says they give you $20 back if you send them photos of their product. So if I get money back thats a great deal! and the "M" has been taken off, I know it looked tacky haha...

Heres an Ebay link to the darker film that I just ordered. With the rebate they give you for taking pictures you can buy the tint and only have to pay for the shipping in the end.

Let me know how it goes, it wasn't too expensive so I bought the light-smoke kit for the headlights, hopefully looks good. Also today had extra time and some extra pieces of tint, I smoked the side Turn signals, and I thing it looks good with the color of the car.

I like it. i think I might do this. I just wonder how difficult it is to remove later if needed?

Did you guys order the install kit?

And do you know if the kit includes the reverse tail light as well.

I just removed the film that I put on since it was so lights and it was pretty easy, I just used a hairdryer to heat up an edge and peeled it away. I just ordered the headlights and taillights kits today and I'm sure they come with the reverse lights as well

If you used a hairdrier for that, I wonder how well it would stick where I live. Summers here get up to 110 at times and I frequently vacation in places that are known to get to 130 (sometimes higher).

Looks great.

I want to get this done on my twilight blue. I got the Sport headlights so I figure it only makes sense to have slightly darker tails, plus I just find them to be red to an offensive degree.

By the way, that spiral effect can be easily reversed. Not that anyone will bother, just FYI :)

Well I got Both the front and rear kits today, Unfortunately for the tails they sent me the wrong shade, it was too light so I'm gonna send it back. But the fronts Came out pretty good, and also included was smoke film for the fog lights as well. Here's a couple of pics:

Yea the headlights are a light smoke. As far as installing it, I would suggest going on youtube and checking out a couple videos, thats what I did before I did mine. What I used was a squirt bottle with soapy water, exacto knife (if you need to trim), blowdryer, and something to smooth out the film like a credit card(wrap with a micro-fiber towel to prevent scratches), Or you can buy there install kit if you like but it cost more that the film itself.... Some tips would definitely be to have an extra set of hands and take your time, Its possible to do it on your own but just a lot easier with help.

Let me know how it goes when you do it.
