the guy that tinted my wifes Honda Pilot suggested trying the same tint they use on tail lights. i'll try buying some plastic thats just like the rear window and i'll do the tint on it or take it to him to see how it turns out. i'll post pics when i can to keep you guys updated on the progress

If you goto a places that deal with replacing convertible tops, they can replace the window in the rear with a pretinted vinyl window. I have not gone around to doing this, but eventually I will.

hope that helps.

yeah..the tint place said he has seen people do it with the spray but it will crack and you'll end up with a fugly back window. i called Vic @ topsonline and he said that for an xtra 25.00 you can order the charcoal back window. of course that means you would have to buy the whole rear part again.

I think he means the whole rear window with the cloth suroounding it section. It's a seperate piece anyways so I doubt you'd have to buy the whole roof. Either way, this is deffinately something I'm going to look into.

I don't know if anyone is still reading this thread but...Yes you can get a tinted rear window. This took me awhile to figure out...Ask ANY upholstery/convertible top shop to see their samples. The company that makes the plastic (pretty sure they make all of the plastic windows on all of the cars) makes 4 colors. 1. Clear 2. Smoke (which is barely tinted, don't waste your time) 3. Charcoal (nice black tint)4. Green All windows come with the fabric factory bonded. They aren't exactly cheap but the worst part is the installation cost. Next, the top must be mostly removed to install the window. The top attaches to the frame rails like the closure system on a ziplock bag. It isn't designed to be detached though. Generally, you (or the pros) will ruin the top trying to take it off. At best, it will never be the same upon re-installation. You are best off buying a new top with your window as the labor cost to do "just window" vs "top and window" is about the same. Figure on $1000 or more for everything. IMPORTANT: The charcoal window is great! Every vert in this forum should have one. I can send pictures if you'd like to see the difference it makes.
