I had tint installed the day I got my car and I have taken it back like 3 times because the tint looks like crap on the rear window where the dot matrix is. They say there is nothing they can do about it. I have taking all my cars there (D&L Window Tinting in White Marsh) for years, but now they have a bunch of punk kids working there. Anyways, I was reading about peeling it down and sanding it with 600g wet/dry sandpaper and/or applying a stationary type clear glue. I was wondering if I would be able to peel the tint down alittle without messing it up or tell me what you all are doing about the dot matrix? It has been on there for at least 4-5months.

That is one of those things that no one else would notice, but drives me crazy. Will take pics when I get home.

There is also this stuff, which you would think tinting places would have.http://www.dotmatrixwindowtinting.com/

i deal with my dot matrix by not looking at it.

The tint completely separated from the window up there... you cant really see it though... sanding is supposedly the solution! Skuff those dots!

After 4-5 days, I went over the dot matrix area carefully with the edge of a credit card... made it look a little better, not sure how well it will hold up over time though.

My tinter did the same as these others. Tint up to the dot matrix line, vinyl the rest of the way up I cant tell a difference from the outside, but inside I LOVE the way the top portion is just black

That's all you need to do. Sandpaper the dot matrix down, clean, dry, then tint over it!

Mine had grey/white spots here and there at first, but a few days after settling, the tint warmed and applied to those spots and looks great now!

I guess my question is what do I do now since the tint has already been on there for a couple months. If I try to peal the tint back down past the dot matrix, I am afraid I will tear the tint and have to get the whole back window done again. Maybe that would be the cleanest way, take it off myself and sand down the dots and then have it done again. Pissing me off that a tint shop would say there is nothing they can do about it.

Guys, you need to find a better tint person. They guy i used told me if he did not use a black matted on that part of the window I would have" the same problem you have".

once it was on he told me it would take 3 days to cure. once it was cured the problem was gone.

Just thought I would share, if you have a tint person who does not know this then you best get another tinter....is that a word tinter....
