Hello all, i am still freshly new to this forum. Recently just got my g35 coupe six speed for about 2 weeks now.

I am loving the car, from shifting and to the exhuast sound.

anyways i got some money saved up, dont know which route i should go first. Its either a nice black tint or a nice cold air to increase a little hp.

Any help would be great.

The car comes stock with a very good cold air intake. Aftermakets often trade filtration for a tiny bit less flow restriction...................unfortunately hard to feel/measure anything less than 10 lb/ft so 1-2 may be a waste.

Think of it this way... You're considering the tint to make the car look good and to keep it a little cooler in the sun, Right????

And you're thinking about the intake to increase the HP and make it sound better... True????

My rationale is that you should go with the Intake becauseA) The car will be slightly faster so it will cool off quicker (no need for tinting)B) When you rev the engine and a hot chick is around and she hears that WOOT! then you want her to be able to see you... (Which she wouldn't see you if windows were tintedC) Spend the money on the intake now and you'll be able to get to work faster and earlier... your boss notices your effort and gives you a raise... you in turn make more money and can afford the window tinting with your new found fortune!

Just my thought... Happy Modding!

I think stock, they have enough tint.Would go with a z-tube and pop charger or K&N drop in.

Do the short-ram style. JWT or Stillen Popcharger with the Z-tube will give your car a great sound and a little extra power. (JWT to save a few bucks, Stillen for looks.)

While I agree with Q45tech in that the stock filtration is good, the G35 intake track is not designed for max power...its designed for quiet operation. Replacing the OEM intake bellows with a short ram will make a noticeable improvement in power and sound. The actual filter isn't what gives you "noticeable" HP.

Another excellent mod for 05+ (REVup engine) is the MREV2 and plenum spacer.

It's all in what you want. I love the sound/power of my Short ram intake (Popcharger/Z-Tube) / MREV2 / plenum spacer / Stillen TD exhaust!!!

haha... Intake? Get your tint 1st. Raining season is coming up and your cold air intake would have to be removed if you want to drive your car in the rain. Unless you want to blow your motor.

And yes, the stock intake already takes in cold air. its a perfect system, built and designed by Nissan. OEM cold air intake doesn't get dirty as fast as the aftermarket ones.

if a little performance increase, then just change the stock filter to a K&N high flow filter.

Intakes arent worth it IMO.. the $$$/Performance ratio sucks. don't let the inake noise fool you.. "Placebo" effect. You car may "feel" faster but it just the noise from the intake.

The only performance mod worth mentioning are turbos, superchargers and exhaust. intakes are flashy gimmicks.

Again, this is just my opinion.

And SHORT RAM intakes, that consumes HOT air from the engine bay are worhtless. WTF are people thinking?

I totally agreed on what u have to say. I did a little search myself and 200 dollars for a intake is not worth it. I think i am going just to save up for something more worth spending.

Thanks again guys, have a good one. If only im rich, the beer would be on me.

I would go with the tint first, and just get 15%, i had 50% then went down to 35% the went down again to 15%. It was a huge waste of money, wish i had just got 15% to start.

I just got my G35x last Friday and I love the car. I actually ordered the SS Fujita short ram twin intakes first. Also with the tints, if you have the wireless FOB then you should definately get Ceramic tints put on the car. I got a buddy who is an engineer for BMW in NJ and they were getting back alot of cars with intereference in their XM, Nav, radio, and the keyless entry fobs. The reason for this intereference was the metal in the conventional window tints they had installed.

Look into the ceramic tint and save yourself the headache later on, but it will cost you a bit more now as it is a little harder to work with and install.
